Roman Emperor Aurelian, "Father of Christmas"
The Roman emperor Lucius Domitius Aurelianus was born of humble origins on the 9th of September 214 or 215 AD in what is now southeastern Europe.
As a result, even those who are Sedevacantists hold strongly to the same misbegotten and false thinking of all things Roman as though it is the Jurisdiction which holds pre-eminence among all the established Christian Communities whose roots can be traced back to the Holy Apostles. The particular article to the left is a strong reflection upon what is happening to the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church and many are there who, from the Orthodox national churches are snuggling up to the Vatican under Benedict 16th which is nothing more than the portents of the prophecy from the Apocrypha (Book of Revelation) as regards the End Times. It is true that the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church was ONCE a part of the Root of Catholicism which is bound root and branch to that which is ORTHODOX... But heresies and continued heresies does not allow for one to be considered CHRISTIAN, let alone CATHOLIC no matter who or where they are... They are no different in the ecclesiology and doctrines than Protestants today. Even many of those individual clergy of the Roman Jurisdiction have opted to lessen their vow regarding the Seals of the Confessional and their respect (having a definite lack of respect in spirit and truth) to those who have opted to protect that pillar of the Church. For those who have ears to hear, let them hear and those who have eyes to see, let them see!

With his great strength and
skill as a soldier in the Roman army he rose through the ranks to become the
emperor Gallienus' most accomplished general. Upon the death of Gallienus in 270
AD, Aurelian assumed power and ruled Rome until 275 AD. He is perhaps most
famous for being know as the "father of Christmas"
In ancient pagan times the winter solstice was traditionally a time of
celebration and festivities. The early Norse celebrated the first day of winter
as the night that the Great Mother Goddess gives birth to the baby Sun God.
It was called Yule, the day a
huge log is added to a bonfire, around which everyone would dance and sing to
awaken the sun from its long winter sleep.
In Roman times, solstice celebrations honored Saturnus (the harvest god) and
Mithras (the ancient god of light)--a form of sun worship that had come to Rome
from Syria with the cult of Sol Invictus. Those festivals were seen as a time to
remember that winter was not forever, that life continued, and was an invitation
to stay in good spirits. In the year 274 AD, the solstice fell on the 25th of
December. Roman emperor Aurelian officially proclaimed that date as "Natalis
Solis Invicti," the festival of the birth of the invincible sun.
Christians in third century Rome were frequently persecuted, so being seen
publicly celebrating a Christian festival was dangerous. Although the actual
date of Christ's birth is thought to have been in the spring, it nevertheless
became a secret tradition for early Christians to celebrate His birth on
December 25, on the occasion of this new, official pagan holiday, to avoid
detection by authorities. Aurelian has been known since as the "father of
Christmas"
The celebration of the birth of the sun was to become the celebration of the
birth of the Son. It was not until 325 AD when the Christian emperor Constantine
the great officially created the holiday of Christmas, to be celebrated openly
on December 25th of each year.

I would like to point out that the First Ecumenical Council, Nicaea took place
in the same year, 325.
