IMMIGRATION IN THE UNITED STATES:

There is no denying the fact that the

United States of America

is a nation of immigrants. My ancestry hails from

Germany

France

Italy

and

Lebanon

. With the exception of the Native American Indians, none of us can honestly say “that we are not the offspring of immigrants”.

Our nation was built by the labor of immigrant groups from all over the world. Most of these groups were ‘looked down’ upon, when they first arrived, by those who were already here. These groups included the Irish, the Italians and the Chinese, etc., but over time, as groups, they pulled together and worked their way up the “social” ladder to become honorable members and contributors to American society.

It must be said that back when my ancestors first came to

America

(some of them came prior to the Civil War) they entered the

United States

in a legal and orderly manner, many of them arriving at Ellis, Island. Back then and even when I was a youth, no one would be admitted into the country unless they could verify that they either had a job waiting for them or that they had friends or relatives who would vouch for them and guarantee to be financially responsible for them. Later, other groups had to rely on sponsors or “host” families to sponsor them into the country. This sponsorship usually came from volunteers through church organizations, such as the Catholic Family Orderly Departure Program, and through the American Red Cross. These two organizations were directly involved in the immigration of the Southeast Asian refugees (Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians) following the end of the Vietnam War.

Among the criteria for admission into the United States (excluding tourists and college and university students) was:

A.) Financial self-sufficiency;

B.) They had to be communicable disease free;

C.) They could not have a criminal record or be wanted by

police of a foreign country for any criminal activity;

D.) They could NOT belong to any sort of anti-American

or terrorist organizations or groups.

Once they were admitted into the country, they were required to learn English, get a job and obey our laws. There was No Free Rides.

Those arriving in the United States were more than eager to comply and they made it a point to attend English language classes so that they could enjoy and partake of the “American Dream”. We welcomed those who came seeking political, religious and personal freedoms. We welcomed those who came seeking employment so that they could provide for their families and who dreamed of a better and safer future. Once they were here, they worked hard and pulled together to make America strong and great.

What went wrong? The easiest answer to this question is: “The ACLU”. This ‘socialistic’ and highly ‘anti-American’ organization helped to push for the end of banning those with communicable diseases from entry into the country. Then they helped push for the “RIGHT” of illegal immigrants to receive ‘free medical and dental’ care and ‘free education’, along with the right to receive all sorts of social welfare benefits, all at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Now, there are all sorts of ethnic and human-rights groups who are fighting against having Hispanics (legal or illegal) learn English. Many of our Christian Churches (especially the Roman Catholic Church) have abandoned their “orderly departure” and legal immigration programs and are opting to openly defy the immigration laws by aiding and abetting illegal immigrants, even to the point of giving them sanctuary in their churches.

To make matters worse, many employers are aiding and abetting illegal immigrants by hiring them as a source of cheap labor at or below the minimum wage. This action alone is hurting the American workers and causing a lowering of our standard of living. We are being fed the line that our economy “needs” the labor of the illegals, but do we really need one to three million illegals flooding into our country every year? Every administration, from Carter to the present, has given amnesty to the millions of illegal immigrants, promising the American people that this would be a “one time deal”, yea sure! Why do our elected officials do this? Simple, first so that can get the votes of the Hispanic population ad second so that they can continue to receive the financial support of the businesses and corporations that employ the illegals. Cheap votes and political contributions at the expense of national security, safe borders and the American workers.

The vast majority of American citizens are demanding that our government strengthen our borders to stem the flood of illegals entering. The vast majority of American citizens are demanding that there be NO AMNESTY given to illegals and that if they wish to become American citizens, they MUST first return to their home country and apply for legal immigration into the United States. Over this past weekend, we saw thousands of protesters, all across the United States, protesting against the immigration bill going through congress, which would strengthen our immigration laws. You can bet your life that the majority of the protesters are illegal immigrants; most of them were waving the Mexican flag and carrying anti-American and pro-Mexican signs. One protester from Mexico (you could tell by his accent) who was interviewed stated: “We only want to be a part of the American dream, and to make a living to support our families, and if our country won’t give us a chance to work and make a living, then we have to go where we can, but now the American government wants to treat us like criminals”. Well, DAH! If you are here illegally, you are a criminal! You have broken our immigration laws. We don’t have anything against you having a part in the American dream or making a living, but do it legally. Go back to your home country and apply for legal immigration. Why should you be allowed to sneak into our country, then expect and demand amnesty and automatic citizenship over those who have come legally and are going through the process to become citizens? Those of us who demand stronger immigration laws and safer and more protected boarders are being branded as being bigots and anti-immigration. This is so far from the truth.

We are a nation of laws, at least that is what we are supposed to be, and if people think so little of our laws that they will enter our country illegally, and do every thing in their power to remain here illegally, and take advantage of our welfare system, then what makes one think that this disregard and disrespect for our immigration laws, won’t lead to the disrespect and breaking of all our other laws? As it is, they are putting a huge financial strain on our prison systems, our medical, dental and educational systems. They have been involved in rapes, robberies, assaults, drug smuggling and dealing, and all sorts of violent gang activities.

Since September 11, 2001, we have been living in very dangerous times. We are supposed to be deeply concerned with “homeland security”. We can no longer afford to have open unsecured borders. Along with the illegal Mexicans coming across the southern border, there are many illegals from Middle eastern terrorist supporting countries, such as; Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc., along with Communist Chinese and illegals from other Central and South American countries. As a sovereign nation, we have every RIGHT to secure our borders. We have every RIGHT to DEMAND that our elected leaders live up to their oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and to keep the American citizens safe, and if those who come here illegally don’t like it, that is too bad, they can just go back to where ever they came from.

Any church, including the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church, that advocates aiding and abetting illegal immigrants, beyond emergency aid of food, water and emergency medical care, is breaking the law and they encouraging their congregations to disobey the law of the land, not to mention that they are putting our country in greater danger. By doing all this, they are causing others to sin. Jesus never urged his followers to break the laws of the land. On the contrary, Jesus said: “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and render unto God what is God’s” In a joint statement on immigration, the Roman Catholic bishops of the United States and Mexico express their concern that: "Alarmingly, migrants often are treated as criminals by civil enforcement authorities." To those of you bishops, on both sides of the border, I say that when you are speaking of those illegally migrating, their actions do, in fact, fall under the "crime" category.

Cardinal Roger Mahoney, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles, California, made headlines for encouraging priests (under him) in his Roman Catholic Archdiocese to defy a proposed federal law that he and his supporters on this front are assuming would mean churches would be legally forbidden from providing basics to an immigrant in need. This interpretation of the proposed law is false and it is a prime example of a Roman Catholic Church leader encouraging his followers to sin.

Besides encouraging the breaking of our nation’s laws and endangering the safety our nation, those who advocate for open borders and a multicultural society, are endangering our country in another way also. By encouraging multiculturalism, there would be no real common national bond to hold us together as a nation. If we do not require new comers to learn English, we will even lose our national language. It is up to those, who immigrate to the United States, to learn our language and adapt to fit in into the American culture. It is not the duty of the American people to adapt to accommodate the immigrants.

I urge the ACLU, the brain-dead liberals and others to heed this warning: Multiculturalism, all inclusiveness and political correctness along with ‘sensitivity training’ will only succeed in tearing this nation apart. “A house divided against itself, cannot stand”. If we are to continue as a nation, we MUST have ONE common language and One common culture. This does not mean that we should forget our ancestral roots, but as Americans, our national language and our American culture MUST come first.

This is sometimes the same way in which authors and writers do in order to bring about both sides or arguments in discussions or about some issues affecting the Church as a whole. Abbot +Gregori and our Metropolitan Archbishop do this from time to time. What part of celibacy does one not understand?

However, it has come to our attention that un-named individual(s) think it wise and not harmful to start attacking by taking copyrighted materials to use in their own web site without permission, per se: as for an example, the subjects pertaining to "Homosexuals" and "Homosexuality in the Church," etc. for the purpose of advancing their own causes to start their attacking of other(s) which is not bound in and with the Church, but with a personal agenda of self-image because of anger, hate, fear and worse. They are Roman in attitude and practice, but not Orthodox, although calling themselves "Orthodox" even "Celtic".

It is understood, according to information and belief, that three of his/her/their websites may have been closed by former service providers due to complaints against him/them for internet terrorism, spewing "hate" and causing for an individual whom he/they discuss, to be exposed to potential physical harm which happened in the early part of the 2005 when they thought themselves wise in their own conceit, for things of more than 13 years in the past. What part of "Hate" - "Exposing another to threats of losing life" - "Internet Terrorism" does he/they not understand? Now, under other domain names, the same/similar hate messages re-occur against the same individual.

We find them to be un-orthodox and un-Christian in spirit and truth for they continue to argue things of the past that is not a part of the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ, and (in fact) go against the very commandments of Jesus Christ! And those who do such are, it is opined upon investigation and in most instances, the very one(s) who had been or are under ban as excommunicated individuals posing as duly ordained clergy who had been a part of this jurisdiction (and so many numerous others) in times past.

While the answer and question above is not sufficient for some to understand, we take the view (which we believe is ORTHODOX) that all things pertinent to life and living affects, and has an effect, upon not just our belief (Orthodox), but (for many) the way in which we act in accordance with our belief, our very faith.

Because this is a highly Protestant Country in which we live, having an effect upon the laws of the land, we should know something of what is on-going and where efforts by those denominations may affect and have a intrinsic effect on our very laws, for such does have an effect upon our daily lives as Orthodox Catholic Christians.

If one is not cognizant of the real events happening both locally and in the world, although many are removed from the world... one will not know what to expect or what to do, or how one can or cannot act which might betray one's faith and accrue the wrath of civil authorities as laws change. Yet, we are also reminded that these things must happen and it was for that which there exists many early Christian Martyrs and Saints.

While we can remove ourselves from the world, we still live in it. And for the faithful, theirs is a struggle for knowledge and understanding. All things are pertinent to the Orthodox Catholic Christian Faith which is the very foundation of Christianity. As such, we can not abandon them and leave them blind to events and happenings.

What we post as related to those things similar to various articles which might have a political theme or non-Orthodox Catholic Christian content, of sorts, does not mean or imply that we are supportive of, or against something articulated in an article, so much as it is NEWS and our faithful should be made aware, for such may be the very thing that will impact their day-to-day life.

Remember, not all Protestants, especially hard core cultic groups such as "Charismatic" - "Evangelical" and other people are not so generous in their viciousness toward anyone and anything that appears "Catholic" whether of the Roman or Orthodox jurisdictions, for they do not know or want to learn that which makes them "different" in their walk and talk as being far from the roots of Christianity.

Remember, it is the Roman jurisdiction which has more outwardly shown that it can be one of the most vicious toward those who are not Roman but are very much "Catholic" - for the sun and moon does not rise and set on the Vatican (Latin or Roman) jurisdiction as to who is or is not "Catholic" for the Roman jurisdiction split (schismed) from the roots of "Catholicism" which is founded in what is termed and called today as "Orthodoxy".

Any good article or piece of information will be considered so long as it is not defamatory or slanderous toward an individual when not based on TRUTH or FACT, or which is altered out of context from its original publishing by recognized sources.

Yes, our Metropolitan Archbishop, +Joseph Thaddeus, SSJt., Ph.D. strongly defends the Seals of the Confessional for such leads to true Repentance in thought, word and deed whereby the penitent is required to make amends, where possible, to seek forgiveness of those harmed by his actions whether real or imagined, and to give his forgiveness to those who have harmed him before taking the Holy Body and Blood in the Eucharist, Jesus the Christ. The reality of this understanding is bound up in and with the findings for which cause he, himself, had been character assassinated by his detractors who claim the courts prevented him from breaking the Seals of the Confessional which is not the truth at all....
