A Giant Leap Towards Fascism
What we have now is not government of the people, by the people, and for the

Time To Abandon The Sinking Ship
Democracy is now a fictional system that give Americans an imagined sense of

The Anti-War Peace Movement Needs a Re-Start
The vast majority of Americans widely opposes war and wants the U.S. to focus
its resources at home. But, these views are not reflected in the body politic
and certainly not in the DC discourse on war. Rather than anti-war opposition
being broad-based, politically independent and constant.

...And Crown Thy Good With Corporate Personhood
The backlash against the recent Supreme Court decision on corporate spending is predicated on the notion that somehow we as a people have freedom of choice in our democracy. The reality is that we've acclimatized ourselves to voting for the lesser of two evils in each election. Perhaps now is a good time to no longer be so comfortable with having only two flavors of political parties to choose from.

Let's all welcome CorPersons to the human
world!
On Thursday, January 21, 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court slapped the CorPerson on its fat butt, cut the umbilical cord and, the heir to a zillion-zillon dollar fortune, wailed with joy! In the spirit of taking things way too far, I suggest a number of human attributes be bestowed upon the new humanoid immediately.
In
Obama's decision-making, a wide range of influences
As for what Obama reads online, his advisers said he looks for offbeat blogs and
news stories, tracking down firsthand reporting and seeking out writers with
opinions about his policies. Obama was particularly interested in Atlantic
Online's Andrew Sullivan's tweeting of the Iranian elections last year, said an
aide, who requested anonymity to discuss what influences the president.

A Musical Interlude with The Northwoods
We are an acoustic folk/pop duo. We place a strong emphasis on vocal harmonies and a loving message. We are two childhood friends that decided to make music together about two or three years ago. Our friendship began in the North Woods of Wisconsin when we were ten. (The Riverfront Times, St. Louis' most trusted music review, says: "Best new band of St. Louis 2009."Their readers voted their new album best local album of the year.)

MASSive Shift in the Political Landscape
In the wake of the Massachusetts election, I found it extremely humorous to see
all the so-called experts change their analysis overnight. They were trying to
sound like they knew what was going to happen all along. Once again, like the
politicians themselves, all the experts were wrong and most of them still are. I
hope you will entertain my humble opinion as I try to explain what forces caused
this to happen.

Obama's Tin Ear on Bernanke---And Company
President Obama ear can't be that tin on Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. His wink and
nod at the Big Banks and Wall Street's roulette play with public monies is a big

compensation payouts, soaring bank profits, unemployment climbing again in
December, a decade high number of Americans in poverty, and Scott Brown. Yet

TV News Desks Prepare to Wind Down Haiti Coverage
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper knows the 24-hour news cycle as well as anyone, and

The address is still being written, but one senior official, describing it on

Paul Krugman: The Bernanke Conundrum
policy decisions at the Fed are made by committee vote. And while Mr. Bernanke
seems insufficiently concerned about unemployment and too concerned about
inflation, many of his colleagues are worse. Replacing him with someone less
established, with less ability to sway the internal discussion, could end up
strengthening the hands of the inflation hawks and doing even more damage to job
creation.
E.J. Dionne Jr. - Supreme Court ruling calls for a populist revolt
The only proper response to this distortion of our political system by
ideologically driven justices is a popular revolt. This court ruling should also
challenge the fake populism we have seen of late. It disguises a defense of the
interests of the powerful behind crowd-pleasing rhetoric against "Washington,"
"taxes" and, yes, "Obama."

An anti-Obama video from Glenn Beck types. Warning: this is hateful and full of

give-aways to the rich, and corporatism).

CALL FOR IMMEDIATE ARREST OF 5 SUPREME COURT JUSTICES FOR TREASON :
Veterans Today
Wealthy nations were just told they can buy the United States, not just our
government, but our military, and the lives of our soldiers. They can now make
our laws, raise our taxes, decide on our civil rights, where we can live, if we
can own guns, how late we stay up, where and what we drive and, eventually, how
we think. The Supreme Court has given foreign owned corporations the eventual
power to silence us all.

Obama's Bipartisan Cred Isn't the Issue
Yes, Obama did say he wanted to pursue a bipartisan approach to governing. He
did name more Republicans to his Cabinet than George W. Bush named Democrats.
Still, the opposition has been intransigent. The Republicans certainly have the
right to be as nasty as they want to be. But the mainstream media too often
depict the conflicts of Washington in neutral tones that belie what's really
going on.
November Doesn't Need to be a Nightmare for Democrats
David Plouffe: The GOP took us from a $236 billion surplus when President Bush
took office to a $1.3 trillion deficit, with unpaid-for tax cuts for the
wealthy, two wars and the Medicare prescription drug program. We have potent
talking points on health care, honest budgeting and cuts in previously
sacrosanct programs. Republicans will try to win disingenuously by running as
outsiders.
ON THE day after Tuesday's electoral loss, the Obama admin brought an unfamiliar face to the White House - Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard Law prof noted for her staunch advocacy on behalf the middle class and fierce criticism of the bank bailouts.
