Inside look at Pentagon's cyberdefense strategy: The battlefield beyond bad flash drives - Part I

Sad, but true for it affects those of us who are trying to disseminate information, do research and educate. Yet, Cyber-criminals are no different than those who have departed and those who will not do the research to come to the Root, Ground and Base of all things Christian; Orthodox Catholic Christianity without all the misguided, delusional and often ethnic political & attitudinal problems... One can only as those of you who are truly Orthodox Catholic Christians in spirit and truth... what are the three major aims of Cyber-criminals and those of the Cults who are destroying Christianity from the inside out? You will find that both have a lot in common! Destruction of certain freedoms, destruction of the foundation, root, ground and base of our beliefs and faith... both material and spiritual destruction in order to 'control' ... If this sounds crazy... you do the research... there is a parallel! The two great cultic denominations destroying true Christianity are: Mormonism and Pentecostalism (which include all those in between who have bought into a false idea of Martin Luther's protestation of the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church... which was needed, to say the least, but has since Luther's demise, been so far twisted which has created numerous denominations with such far flung theologies not in accord with the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ and His Holy Apostles. }

The September/October issue of Foreign Affairs is now available online and within its virtual pages is one of the most important cyberwar articles in modern history.

Written by United States Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn III, the article is as important to understanding America’s global cyberwarfare strategy as the Monroe Doctrine was to understanding America’s approach to foreign affairs.

It should be noted that Secretary Lynn is the #2 person at the Pentagon, effectively the Pentagon’s chief operating officer and operates as the Secretary of Defense by delegation in the absence of SecDef.

This article, written by Lynn at this time, is more, therefore, than simply an opinion piece by a government functionary. It is a detailed description of American policy in what Lynn calls:

As a doctrinal matter, the Pentagon has formally recognized cyberspace as a new domain of warfare.

Later today, you’ll be able to hear an interview I did on this matter with Voice of America, where I discuss many of the questions that have come up since Lynn’s article became available.

One issue that’s caused a lot of concern is Lynn’s admission that the United States was the victim of a cyberattack in 2008. The attack was caused by an infected flash drive, which propagated attack software throughout a military network.

In my roles as Cyberwarfare Advisor for the International Association of Counterterrorism and Security Professionals, a member of the FBI InfraGard program, and a technology editor and advisor, I have been warning about the flash drives, thumb drives, iPods, iPhones, cameras, and all forms of removable media as a cybersecurity risk for years now.

Given that most of us can roll with 16-32 gigabytes just in our phones, it’s possible for an enemy (or an unwitting accomplice) to bring very dangerous software behind the firewall simply by carrying in a phone or an iPod. It’s also possible for an enemy to remove vast amounts of secured information simply by loading up an iPhone or other handheld device.

The risks, as Lynn details, are far more than just rogue flash drives. However, what this incident shows is the asymmetric nature of cyberwarfare. It’s very easy and very inexpensive for an enemy state, an enemy actor, a terrorist organization, a crime organization, or even teenage hackers to cause measurable damage. One question I was asked by Voice of America is important to address. I was asked if Lynn’s article discloses too much information and gives an advantage to our enemies.

The answer to that is an emphatic “no”. First, there’s nothing in that article our enemies don’t know. Regular, non-technical readers may find it containing shocking news, but for those of us responsible for dealing with cyberattacks, there’s nothing really new from a technical perspective.

What makes this article so important is its policy implications, rather than its technical implications. In Defending a New Domain, the Pentagon’s Cyberstrategy, the United States government is effectively making an international statement on the importance of cyberdefense.

It’s a call to arms for our allies, a cautionary tale for American industry, and a warning shot to those who might attack us.

Before I close this article, I have one more thing important thing to say about America’s cyberdefense. I’ve worked with a lot of people on the front lines of America’s cyberdefense and these are some of the most amazingly smart and aware professionals I’ve every met.

The risk is not with having smart enough people on the job. The risk is our own lack of caution in keeping our consumer and industry systems properly protected, a lack of willingness on the part of managers and policy makers to invest in ongoing security, and the challenge that ordinary computer users are, effectively, playing with digital weapons of mass destruction with barely any awareness of the basic risk.

Daily News is very important to those who are true Orthodox Catholic Christians. For without knowing or gaining information for understanding about what is happening in one's local area and around the world, you could find yourself faced with denied services in the secular area, lack of income, even (although it sounds far-fetched) ability to worship openly for the time is not far off when all will have to decide if they wish to follow the Anti-Christ through the One World Church and One World Government as prophesied by the Apocalypse, the Book of Revelation of St. John or follow the faith delivered once and for all which will cause for many to be denied the abilities to survive under those kind of conditions, causing for one to consider other options.

Many of those who subscribe to, and some who have caused or are the cause for, these things to happen are involved in or with the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church (which is not the seat of all things "Catholic") as well as its protestant daughters such as the cultic Jehovah's Witnesses, the Pentecostal Churches, the Church of Latter Day Saints also known as the Mormon Church and far too many more to list.

Yet, at this web site we do provide some of the reasons about why they are opined to be the harbingers of that which is prophesied in Holy Scripture for the bringing about of the End Times which we have already entered. It is not necessarily their individual members or parishioners that should be blamed since they are only the "Sheep" and not the Shepherds... So do not think we castigate individual people of themselves as we castigate those "money changers" who Jesus Christ chased out of His Father's House as the Bible Describes; for they exist in these present times too.

Events are already rushing toward that time in which this is beginning to happen and will become more fully wide-spread. In these present times all you need to really do is look around both your local and larger areas as to what is really on-going through. Things so very little or miniscule that they are barely noticeable except to the more informed observer may become apparent.

Those little things are the laws of the land, economics, politics, the degrading and erosion of those rights and liberties afforded by the Constitution of these United States of America and many other things such as the manner with which entertainments have taken over much of the populace, entering into and becoming a major focus in worship, and more.

We ask you, if you don't want to believe us... Have you heard, seen or found what is termed (of the many terms being used) that there are "holding areas" or "camps" or "Closed/Fenced communities" being built by GOVERNMENT?

Here in North America, especially in the United States of America, we must admit that what Russia has come out of (a communistic, atheist country) we are entering into. And one last thing that needs also to be understood... Something very important to those of you who are "Catholic" in the Roman sense of its jurisdiction.... And, we believe this also holds true for many who are "Orthodox" whether "Eastern" or "Western"....

Remember: You cannot ride two horses or serve two masters for one of them will be harmed by your thoughts, your very words and your actions which is to blaspheme the Holy Ghost (Spirit) who will depart from you. And when the Holy Spirit departs, the great deceiver (unbeknownst to you) will rush in to fill the void under disguise of being the Holy Spirit! Testing of the Holy Spirit to insure it is the Holy Spirit does not, for many a Sectarian Protestant and Roman, work because the Great Deceiver (Satan) is most skilled in worming and snaking his charms around your mind and heart to feign being the Holy Spirit. Remember, Satan has the same gifts similar to the Holy Spirit but Satan's gifts are UN-HOLY and lead all who accept him (unbeknownst to you) to perdition.
