{APOSTLE1.COM's Note Commentary & Opinion: We rec'd the following from Monk Michael Damien Benedict who is head of another jurisdiction out of El Paso, Texas. Inasmuch as He and those with him are not a part of this Jurisdiction [AOC/NAOC] we do feel that what he has to say about the "Halloween Deception" is true and needs to be posted as a reminder to all TRUE CHRISTIANS... God will not be mocked! What started out, centuries ago, as "All Souls Eve" has been turned into an evil "entertainment" that has beguiled millions over time to where the thoughts and practices are diametrically opposed by all things CHRISTIAN! If one takes the time (but who will) to do the research, one will find plenty of information as to the "Why" and "What For" of and about the Church's anathema of HALLOWEEN celebrations... which is alluded to in the following article! }
Do Not be deceived, the Evil one, Lucifer, Satan and his demons do exist. Our Lord Jesus Christ came into this world to destroy power over death, that is, Satan. In today's modern world, it is essential for Christians to realize that our greatest enemy is Lucifer, the evil one; he who tricks us to sin against God, and who prevents us from knowing the truth.
Halloween approaches. It is again that time of the year, when parents are preparing to allow their children to participate in that pagan festival. Halloween… the day in which our children become enthusiastic over the deceiver of humanity. A day in which our children wind up in the snares of Satan and go about wandering in the dark dressed up in costumes imitating witches, hobgoblins and demons. Much of this being encouraged by our local community organizations and of course television.
Like it or not, it is impossible for Christians to participate in this event and still remain faithful to Our Lord Jesus Christ. To participate personally, or allow our children to participate in Halloween is considered simple faithflessness and an abomination to God.
Do not be deceived, Halloween has its roots in paganism and continues to be a form of idolatry in which Satan is worshipped. The very basis of our Christian faith is built upon the blood of martyrs who refused, under painful torture and even death to worship Satan and his demons.
In today's society, we witness cults, we hear of a satanic services being conducted on Halloween night, everywhere Satan reaches out to ensnare as many innocent people as possible, mostly our children. Halloween has its roots in paganism, idolatry, cults and Satan worship.
Lucifer stands against God. We as Christians MUST stand against Lucifer and the pagan custom of Halloween. These customs are NOT innocent practices which may appear to be fun for children, but rather demonic practices connected to the spiritual world which many are ill-equipped to close . Halloween is the spiritual root of atheism, and teaches children (and adults alike) to turn away from God. Children are taught that these pagan rituals are fun, entertaining, and harmless and of no consequence.
As an Orthodox Christian Bishop I must inform you that there are very deep consequences, and participation in these practices at any level is unequivocally idolatrous, contradictory to the Christian Faith and a genuine betrayal to God.
