THE THIRD ECUMENICAL SYNOD
The Third Ecumenical Synod was convened at Ephesus, in 431, called by Theodosius II, with 200 bishops present. This Synod condemned Apollianarians and Nestorianism, and pronounced the two natures of Christ, the Divine and Human, without distinction and without separation, and also declared the Mother of God as Theotokos. It issued eight canons referring to the disputes of the above mentioned incorrect teachings.
