LEGEND
notes: As you "click" on the name of the Synod
which you will be linked to, the following explains the references that
appear after each canon: Each of
the Synods, etc., has been identified with an Arabic number, bold face
type.These numbers should be used
as an identification of the particular Synod or Father, which will be found
in references throughout the text. For
example, No. 4, bold, represents the Fourth Ecumenical Synod; and No. 22,
bold, represents the canons of St. Peter the Martyr. Also,
the number of each canon is identified by an Arabic number, in light face
type, and appears in the references. Most
of the canons have references to other canons of a similar nature; the
Arabic numbers in the references are used for both the Synod or Father
and their canons. For instance, the
reference 3, 7 (bold 3, light 7), indicates the Third Ecumenical
Synod and its 7th canon. The name
of the Synod or Father, and its identifying number, bold. The
number of the Canons are to be found in the text.
The following are the canons issued by the Seven Ecumenical Synods. Later we shall be adding more information as indicated in the chart.
