What the little soul means

The past is prologue

Dear one,

Never keep looking back at the past -- it is only a prologue to the Present -- and the Present One is our future for eternity.  It would have been good, for example, perhaps, for the little soul to have come to a place in Christ like this one 67 years ago.  He sees many things in his little Life much like the empty hole beside his foot there; awaiting the Vine to be planted with new earth; we are earthen vessels...LOL -- no, God always meets us in the Present -- we learn from all the trials of Life... it instructs us, as God shows us how to Live for Him,

The Garden of God’s Delight

I am in His Garden – where God’s Delight

Is to help us in Mercy-Love through the night

That we see and become in Jesus through the strife

Of time and space that we might walk in the Light.

In this present span of His eternity now we come

To see as through a glass darkly within the sum

Of those pains and poverty of spirit that take

From us so much, but give back so much Grace.

We are often overcome with sorrow in the night –

While finding that the Man of sorrows is the Light

That shines in the darkness – for the dark is overcome

By God’s Glorious Light than cannot ever succumb

To the intentions of the evil one, whose duplicity

Seeks to kill and maim the intentions of our simplicity.

The Cross is never the end of the matter we are shown.

God’s Victory is displayed in Jesus, who now with Crown

Rests in the Glory of the Heavenly Throne with the Father.

He shows the better Garden than Gethsemane His Treasure

We have in our earthen vessel – the Wisdom of His Pleasure

To form and make us His very children through this Life

This Grace to a soul who sees his neediness in the night.

We, dear one, are never alone – God, the Present Light –

For HE is always the Treasure within our earthen vessel.

To Love without reservation!

It is so easy to react in anger to something said about what we believe -- how we Love God... the simple intention of Love -- the simple intention of Love for God and one another is all that is needed -- it prevents anger, because it trusts GOD alone.

Pondering the habitations in Kedar

I am living in Kedar – the tents of the wilderness in the spirit – pondering the times and the habitations – the dwelling in tents (Jer. 49:29; Ps. 120:5; Song 1:5) that are spoken of in the Holy Scriptures. There has been much wasted time – sadness that perhaps there will be no one to pass all of these tents on to – for few desire religious life in Christ – most souls simple go their own ways and never come into any concept of community – wasted time. We hear the echo of the psalmist –

“Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of Cedar: my soul hath long been a sojourner. With them that hated peace, I was peaceable, and they fought against me without a cause.” (Psalm (119, vulg) 120: 5, 6)

Life is like this – I hear the Voice of Beloved Jesus crying out in the wilderness – and we identify with His Heart, when we sense His rejection and participate in part with His sorrows. The marginalization we feel, dear one – the marginalization is common to mankind. We sense the rejection of Christ – the rejection of the Gift of GOD –the sense that no one desires to follow Him into the desert places – to follow to the tents of Kedar – all desire the things that Babylon offers – and we sense the words, “Jesus wept” – for He was confronted with the raising of His friend Lazarus from the dead – from Paradise back into the trials of this earth – all because Mary and Martha desired to be Lazarus with them – so Lazarus would again dwell in the habitations of Kedar.

Dear one, my heart is so weary of Babylon – the impatience of others – the short tempers and backbiting – the wounds of the past still burn in the memories that are healing – the marginalization – the calumny – the sense that all of this work may coming to nothing in the end, for few wish to see such a work as this continue, for few will come and see to carry it onward to His Parousia.

Ah, dear soul that speaks – who am I that it should even matter? – for even all the earth and heavens will be changed when He changes all things to perfect Righteousness. Our little structures do not have permanency. We are vapors – we are candles in the wind, giving Light only for a little time.

The Light is JESUS.

But, we sense with the Mind of GOD that what we do is unimportant – we are nothings – so, why should anyone even come and see? ALL that matters in the present and in the end is that we see JESUS – that we ponder HIM in the tent of Kedar – pondering Him with Mary our Mother – pondering these things in the heart of hearts – pondering His Grace and Mercy – His Perfect Love now on the backside of the desert.

I am a pelican in the wilderness – and owl of the desert.

Ah, yes, the Peace of Christ overflows – and the deep quiet in the soul comes in knowing God alone – we need our Beloved alone – the world goes its ways – we seek Him alone in the Way.

Forgive me Beloved One…

Looking to Jesus, we have our Hope – our Blessed Hope alone in HIM.

A Book reading

Reading a good book on forgotten desert mothers of the Church by Laura Swan, recommended, for they have much to tell us about living in God alone.

Beloved souls,

This is the look from the east now as of April 2014 of the hermitage of Mary (Rev. 12)... the little shed within the fenced area you can see is being done this next week by yours truly -- and we'll roof with plywood at least -- the man who gave us "Mary the kitty 'hermitess'" is donating some nice shingled for the little 8 by 8 feet roof on this shed -- this garden shed is for vines and altar wine and also for prepping jams and jellies... and processing various other organic gardening things for canning -- it will also be a extra bed for the little soul when we have two guests and I have to give up my cell for someone.

You can see the new enclosed fencing (wire) for the vineyard and the organic garden, awaiting the wood chips we have coming in June, according the NORVAL Electric, which will give them to us in bulk, when they start cutting and chipping trees from around the power lines.

I am pleased to do this project -- it gives the little soul new life and purpose in Jesus -- falling more in Love with Him daily -- knowing His Mercy and Sanctifying Grace more and more -- not me but HIM alone!

Dear ones, eventually there will be a larger house with refectory and bathroom and maybe a couple more small cells -- and yes, real plumbing, a shower and little kiutchen area building (perhaps a 14 by 36 feet log cabin unit) to left of this array further east between cross and present location you see -- we'll be prepping this are for future growth this year.

All of this in contingent upon the resources and the direction of things in America,

Growing in God's timing.  He is Gracious toward us, though we are unworthy -- He is Worthy.

Therefore, working until Jesus comes,

Ponder

Dear friend in Jesus,

Take time to always ponder what God desires as the best path for you -- realize He always desires the best for you -- the simple intention of Love for GOD and for one another goes far in the alleviation of worry, as we cast our cares and anxieties upon Jesus, for He cares for us!

Beloved,

If we try so often that we think it is trusting -- we become more deceived and worried -- But, GOD's Perfect Love casts out fear (dread and anxiety) -- for we are trusting in the Divine Mercy over our anxieties. Jesus is our ROCK... -- and we do best when we Rest upon the Rock of our Salvation and see in Him our True Strength.

WE quote often Proverbs 3: 5, 6 -- trusting in the LORD will all our heart -- leaning not to our own understanding...

Worry and Faith

Many times we worry, when we should have simple Faith – we fear this or that and create many stresses within our body and soul – and we really solve very little at all – and find ourselves in the same place as we were when we began the worry.  We do much damage to the soul and the body dear one – when we worry – and it does not stop there – we do greater damage to the body and soul of other, when they see us worry rather than trusting in the LORD.

Why dear one is it so difficult for us to cast all our anxieties upon the LORD, for He does care for us!?  St. Peter has said this:

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under GOD’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”  (I Peter 5: 6, 7)

Dear friend, the only reason we DO NOT cast all our anxiety upon GOD alone is because we do not really believe (Faith) that GOD REALLY DOES CARE FOR US!

I pray this is not so – and of course I must admit that the little soul who writes this has been a sorry example of Faith many times in the past.

You see, GOD really does care for us – and GOD calls us to cast our anxieties upon HIM, because He does care for us!

We are so very forgetful and seem to be hopelessly so it seems – and we are so needy for comfort and re-enforcement emotionally – and we tend to be so forgetful of the Love of GOD – and we simply find it hard to believe – to have Faith that GOD really does Love us!  I have a precious kitty – Maria – who lives at the hermitage of Mary as our little “hermitess kitty”.  I see her often during the week – she is an inside, but sometimes an outside kitty – she does “mouse patrol” for us.  We treat her well and give her much Love.  But, I have noticed (perhaps, because of her past) that she constantly needs me to cuddle and tell her we Love her and she scoots in to my left hand and right hand with her head and neck and awaits the scratches and petting.  She shows such contentedness on her smiling kitty face.

We are like her in many ways.

How can it be that we doubt so easily this LOVE that GOD shows us all around us?

Well, the devil is very real and so is our forgetful weakened human nature – we are in a spiritual warfare dear one – and the enemy looks for someone to devour (cf. I Peter 5:8)

Forgive me, dear soul – but are we smarter and more reliable than GOD?  We know far better than GOD, ya know – the devil is not real, right?  He is an imaginary thing?  Right, ya know?

The Bible tells us,

“Resist him, standing firm in the FAITH, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”  (I Peter 5: 9)

Imagine dear person in Christ – I AM NOT ALONE in this suffering!  Some have it much worse in other lands – we pray for them – better not to think so much about my pain, but think about the pain of others who have it worse!

So often, we act as though we are all alone – and we worry, because we believe GOD is not “big enough” for my trials!  We prove then we are weak in Faith.

Admit it… but, then, FEAR NOT – “GOD opposes the proud but Gives Grace to the Humble.”  Proverbs 3:34)

It is very good also to remember always and quote and rely upon Proverbs 3: 5, 6)

That is – to trust in the LORD with all your heart and not to lean to your own understanding – but, in ALL your ways ACKNOWLEDGE HIM and HE will direct your pathway.

Another translation says -- “Have confidence in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thy own prudence.  In all thy ways think on him, and he will direct thy steps.” (Douay-Rheims)

Let us then trust in Him – and not worry so much.

The Deeper Longing

The many contradictions in our lives - such as being home while feeling homeless, being busy while feeling bored, being popular while feeling lonely, being believers while feeling many doubts - can frustrate, irritate, and even discourage us. They make us feel that we are never fully present. Every door that opens for us makes us see how many more doors are closed.

But there is another response. These same contradictions can bring us into touch with a deeper longing, for the fulfillment of a desire that lives beneath all desires and that only God can satisfy. Contradictions, thus understood, create the friction that can help us move toward God.

I appreciated this much -- so true for our times,

Forgetting the Past

Finally, dear soul, before the great Vigil Mass of the Passion of Christ this evening -- we share this -- last week I was told by a former friend that my Life was a "misdirected life".

Dear one, I have to agree with him, as we have all s...inned and fallen short of God's Glory. Nevertheless, the little soul that I am in Jesus looks to my Beloved Savior and Lord in his "misdirectedness" -- and he says to me -- I AM your Beloved One -- and dear one, I Love my Beloved One supremely, but not enough I must say as I ought to Love Him.

Therefore, we go to worship Him with other of like Faith -- and proclaim now that HE IS RISEN AND LIVES FOREVERMORE -- and I Live with Him in the Person of the Son with His Church.

What the little soul means

Beloved,

What the little soul means in all of his statements about the beloved two orthodox bishops (our brothers in Christ also) you mentioned who that called the Pope a "heretic"  -- I merely suggest here that the little soul (me) -- he accents how stupidly he has also acted sometimes in his past cannibalistic attitudes toward other good men of God -- and the stupidity of two prelates calling a man like +Francis a "heretic" -- really now? -- are we that fundamentalistic in our "rightness"? -- this all seems like a neo-Pharisee mindset contrary to Christ on the re-play for Good Friday?

Man alive -- I thought the Resurrection would correct all of this -- but the mindsets of men die slowly -- perhaps at the Parousia?  God help us all!

I am weary as I grow older of the silliness of men from all sides -- wishing I could just depart from this turmoil and quietly adore JESUS my true King; something of what I was feelling when I wrote and posted this one early this morning...

Thanks be to God... this little soul has been a little sickly birdy today -- but finally breaking loose from the claws of sickness -- enjoying the good feeling again -- Easter is almost here and the newness of Life -- the poem came in the night when the light was breaking this morning, following the first indication of improvements -- it was like a light for the title came into my mind and the Lord seemed to say get up and write and add this to the item I wrote awaiting my reading -- I will send the item still needing proofing that Terry Trang sent to me for proofreading -- it is a PDF file I have cut and pasted to share before we finalize it.  Terry is our publisher, at th Glasgow Courier -- it will be another little booklet -- and we are also writing and finishing the Anchorite's Call and Message finally to get that to her for printing and publishing.

I have removed the numerous "abba anthony the repentant sinner" redundancies in the actual document... the formatting is again from a PDF file.  Please excuse or ignore the large letter here and the unformatted nature of the words below -- it looks a lot better when in PDF formatting --- for those interested... I apologize in advance for its errors in spelling and grammar --- it is only an exercise in Loving God...

God be with you this Holy Saturday.

IntRoDuCtIon:
on Being A Monk
To be a monk, one must be alone with God. When we are in the company of others, we are distracted sometimes, unless we have learned to BE
alone within the hermitage within us with God alone.
Abba Evagrius said: “Some of the fathers used to say that a dry and
regular diet, combined with charity, will quickly bring the monk to the
harbor where the storms of passion do not enter.”
This may be true for some, but approaching monastic life from merely
the aspect of the body is not the essence of being a monk. It is the relationship with God alone that matters in being a monk that is true to his/her
monasticism.
Abba Evagrius also said: “A certain monk was told that his father had
died. He said to the messenger ‘Stop blaspheming. My father cannot die.’ ”
There is the Essence of the true monk: the Father in heaven is the Father of all monks: He IS our truest ABBA, our Father who is in heaven. It
is being in relationship to our Father in heaven through the Son of God;
guided by the Holy Spirit that makes us a true monk.
Abba Macarius said to Abba Zacharias: “Tell me, what makes a monk?”
He said: “Is it not wrong that you should be asking me?”
And Abba Macarius said to him: “I am sure I ought to ask of you, my
son, Zacharias. I have one who urges me on to ask you.”
Zacharias said to him: “As far as I can tell, Father, I think that whoever controls and forces himself to be content with necessities and nothing
more, that man is a monk.”
St. Paul said that he had learned in whatsoever state that he was in to be
content; knowing how to abound and how to be abased: to be content was
the thing that he had learned: so, it is with the monk that is a true monk.
St. Paul had learned through sufferings with the Holy Spirit Present with
and in him for all his journeys – he had learned what is meant to be and
become a true monk.
A monk is one soul who is alone with God; seeking God in all things –
in every aspect of Life in Christ, the monk always seeks the will of God
and, therefore, the Perfect Love of God that casts out all fear: for there is
no fear in Love.
We know dear ones that – God is Love.
Therefore, Live abundantly in God alone who is Love.

1 – Prayerful Meditation – A new Beginning
(December 26
th
, 2013)
We enter, dear one, into the soul and speak to God alone – or is it now
God that speaks with us as we are listening? – for it is we that should always listen to God – for our Mind should always be listening, because He
alone has much to say in this voice within the wilderness where we live
in Him. We listen best when we listen to His Blessed Word – becoming in
that listening “doers of the Word” and not merely “hearers alone”.
The entrance of your Word, LORD – it gives Light in this darkness –
it gives understanding to the simple – we confess our simplicity in God
alone.
The “house” that God is building is built by Wisdom – the Wisdom
of God establishes understanding – and by knowledge through the fear
(standing in awe) of God – the rooms in these interior castles – the rooms
of this mansion – these are filled with all the precious and pleasant riches
that are given by God alone (Cf. Proverbs 24: 3, 4)
This is such a precious thought – too deep for the little soul that seeks
Him. God helps us in our simplicity.
We are never alone for God is always present and therefore we never
walk alone – we walk with God alone – we walk with God alone even
when we are walking hand in hand with others of like Faith and Life in
Jesus. The LORD has made us so that we need each other, even when we
need to be alone in Jesus, walking with Him alone. We are always alone
with God, even when we are walking in fellowship with one another, when
we are walking in the Light, as He is in the Light. (Cf. I John 1: 7)
In this prayerful meditation, we seek a new beginning – the Beginning
that is Jesus – the beginning of this newness of Life in Him – the walking
with God, as Enoch walked with God – when God took him – and he was
no more – for God took him Home to be with Him in deeper fellowship.
This is a state of Grace in God alone that is a dynamic of Grace – the dynamic of walking – prayerfully listening.
It is “lectio” (reading and hearing) – it is “oratio” (prayerfulness) – it is
the “meditatio” (that meditation that lead us onward to seek God alone),
listening still to His Voice within our rooms within the castle of our soul.
Our Beloved One gives more Grace and perhaps brings us into the Gift
of  “contemplatio”  (contemplative  Life  in  Jesus  –  little  glimpses  of  His
Person). We are never left alone and on our own, when Jesus draws nearer,
as He draws us closer to Him alone in that “hermitage within”. The “touch
of God” brings us into the conversion of Life and manners (“conversatiomorum”) – the goal of the Benedictine pathway in Him who is the Way,
– Page 1 – – Page 2 –
the truth and the Life. (Cf. Gospel of St. John 12: 1-6ff)
The Divine Presence is His Divine Mercy-Love.
O, dear one – we are so weak, but it is Jesus who is our Strength. O, my
God and my All, how readily we await those Living Waters that give us
more of His “Life-strength” in this newness of Life we have in Christ Jesus our Risen Lord. This is not something we “work up” to “bring down”
– we are powerless in our false self that “tries” instead of “trusting fully”.
No, God gives more Grace to the lowly who listen to God who sustains
us through this darkness wherein we dwell in anticipation of the Day of
Christ Jesus.
Do you, dear soul, seek to come to know Him with the intimacy that
He allows humbled souls? Then, turn away from the Babylon that beckons
to you – and come to wait and listen to God alone – for He speaks with
clarity in the world of men – when the cacophony attempts to drown out
all clarity – He is heard when we are silent and in the solitude of the inner
hermitage – wait upon the LORD, thus, renewing our Strength – for they
that wait upon the LORD shall renew their Strength – they shall mount up
with wings, like eagles, run and not be wearied – walk and not faint. (Cf.
Isaiah 40: 31)
May we now walk with God alone?
Let us then walk in His silence…
2 – Let us Walk In – Penitence, Actively
And In Contemplation
(December 28
th
, 2013, the Hermitage at the Motherhouse)
“Jesus therefore, six days before the pasach, came to Bethania, where
Lazarus had been dead, whom Jesus raised to life. And they made him a
supper there: and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that were
at table with him. Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with
her  hair;  and  the  house  was  filled  with  the  odor  of  the  ointment. Then
one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, he that was about to betray him, said:
Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the
poor? Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he
was a thief, and having the purse, carried the things that were put therein.
Jesus therefore said: Let her alone, that she may keep it against the day of
my burial. For the poor you have always with you; but me you have not
always.” (The Gospel of St. John 12: 1-8)
The sunlight, beloved soul – it shines in now brightly from the south
window in the doorway of this hermitage – like the “Sun of Righteousness
that descends with healing in its wings” – the prayer comes forth from the
soul that is humbled in such Light – “My God and my All, help this little
soul to recognize what is obvious in your Power – your warming Light that
shines as does the sunlight of this natural world – you my God and my All
allow these little analogs of the reality that is in God alone.
How imperfect is our understanding dear God – how terribly imperfect
we are when we do not recognize your Mercy that shines also as the sunlight.
The basis for the mercy of God is in His perfect Love.
We respond to His perfect Love by walking in the Light as He is in the
Light – the Blood of Christ Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin – this
fellowship (this “Koinonia”) is real – it is Holiness unto the LORD – it
is Perfect Love Living through you and I – little souls, powerless in our
self-will – powerless in our nothingness – powerless in our thinking not to
highly of our selves – His Power is made perfect in our weakness.
We must see and know that His Light shines in this dark night of the
soul and senses. We are not dependent upon feeling well – we are dependent upon the GOD who is Present always – the One who said to us that
He will never leave us, nor forsake us even unto the end of this age.
Let us be content – content with the Presence of God, this walking with
Him in the darkness, because the Light is shining in the darkness. We are
tested (tempted) not to trust – but, this is the great sign that He is Present
– we are tested to believe – and in the testing we find we have this Blessed
Hope, walking with Him every step of the Way – and He is our Way – He
is our Truth – He is our Life – we are on journey to the Father and the
Holy Spirit speaks to us of Jesus – the One who has gone before us – our
Brother that knows our sorrows, our pains – He knows us better than we
know ourselves. All that is ours is nothing and can completely fail us – we
know God alone – open to God and His Mercy – our trust is entirely in His
Grace – His mercy.
Walking with Him – in Him – we find three things that bring us close
to Jesus the Way:
First, there is the penitence that comes in the midst of our activity. We
are returning away from rebellion to God alone – we cannot stay where
we were – we move toward Him who Loves us – who demonstrated His
Love toward us whilst we were yet sinners. We Love Him, because He
first Loved us.
How can we not Love Him perfectly?
Penance bespeaks repentance – turning around the mind to be turned
– Page 3 – – Page 4 –
completely to God alone. We sense our need before God – and we find
ourselves repenting and living in penance before Him. But, this is never
alone, this penance. IT has two other “friends”.
Secondly and Thirdly in this walking, we have: the active Life and the
Contemplative Life. These are also ways we Love GOD alone in this Way,
this Truth and Life that he is – for we Love Him because He first Loved us.
It is GOD so LOVES – therefore, we LOVE Him, because He LOVES.
Activity in God is a form of Loving Him in response to Perfect Love.
Contemplation in God is a Gift from God that is given or not given – it
is also related to our penance (a gift from God) and our activity (a gift from
God) – all that we have is Gift – therefore, we cry “Abba Father” and we
know that God gives more Grace – He bestows Grace upon Grace – Mercy
upon Mercy – He is the GRACE that He gives – and you and I are recipients of Grace – His Mercy – and we cry “ABBA FATHER” in responsive
Love to Him – Him who is our Enough – who is our All.
Contemplation  is  the  Grace  that  comes  quietly  –  as  we  are  looking
steadily into His Face and He reveals Himself in mercy to our soul through
the Holy Spirit – we can never simply “grab it and run with it”. We are
dependent upon His Grace and Mercy for this – even as we are active and
penitential.
Do you see what is meant here?
Grace begets more Grace – GOD is the Giver of all Gifts – and we are
recipients of the abilities and the penance and the contemplative Gifts that
come to us – it is pure Grace – the mercy drops round us are falling – and
when we are folding our umbrellas and looking into the rain drops – we
receive the blessings of His contemplative Graces.
O, dear soul, do not think that we somehow arrive – for we cannot arrive at the Infinity that is GOD. We little nothings are continually nothings
before His Infinitude – but, Love lifts us into His Merciful Presence – like
little ugly spiders that are filled with venom – and He creates a new creation – and we are transformed into the Image that is in His mercy – the
Image that was Marred imparts Grace to bring us into His Person – the Son
who was the Suffering Servant – our Precious First Love.
O, be not confused – He is able to accomplish these Graces. It is according to His Mercy that He saves you and me.
The legalists and the formalists cannot understand this Grace – these
things – all for such souls is far too “mechanical’ – but, DROPPING OUR
ARROGANCE – abandoning our false self – our self that tries to dominate
in the place of GOD – and there we begin here to realize our own discrepancies – the true lover of God desires GOD alone – abandon ourselves in
submission to the will of GOD – no Hope but in HIM – leaving all in His
hands. This is walking with GOD alone in penance, activity and contemplative LOVE. We only BEGIN to encounter His Fullness.
It begins and ends in His Perfect Love.
Perfect Love often flies from those who try to get in the Way of Him
who is the Way – when we abandon carnality – we come to see that He is
the Light – and we are to follow Him in simplicity – the walk in Him all
the time – He is our Light.
There is a reason this is so dear ones.
But, we will speak of this next.
3 – His Image Was So Marred
(December 30
th
, 2013 from the Hermitage at the Motherhouse)
More than any man, His Image was so Marred – His Face – that Holy
Face that was spit upon – the Face of God as Man – and so marred was
it – He was not recognizable as Man – but, dear soul – that Face so marred
then is not so marred now – for he is Risen – the images that we became
were touched by God alone – God in Flesh – He came down to partake
of our sufferings – and now – and now – Oh, but now He has touched so
many souls – and the tribulations of the present evil age have been turned
upside down – and we are renewed – renewed as Man – a new creation
in Christ Jesus – He says to us – “Come up higher” – and we listen to His
Voice and hear the Son of Man crying out in our heart – He calls in the
stillness of the dark night – and we listen to the Voice that calls us.
There will be more and more – for the New Year is coming – the acceptable year of the LORD. No longer are we walking in darkness—no longer
– now the Light is shining brighter and brighter – a new day is coming.
The Word of the Lord Jesus is speaking out of the darkness that is night
– the Light shines within us – He speaks in Colossians 3: 1-7:
“ Therefore, if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above;
where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God: Mind the things that are
above, not the things that are upon the earth. For you are dead; and your
life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ shall appear, who is your life,
then you also shall appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is the service of idols. For which things
the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief, in which you also
walked some time, when you lived in them.”
Yes, dear one, “Come up higher, for I have made you as new creation –
it is a New Year for the little soul we have made in Jesus.”
– Page 5 – – Page 6 –
It is so with all who come to Him – falling on our faces before Him who
was so marred for us – and our marred image is transformed by the touch
of Him so marred by wicked men – marred by my sins and yours – we spat
upon His Face so marred – and yet – the Hand of the LORD reaches out
and touches us even now, “Mind the things that are above, not the things
that are upon the earth. For you are dead; and your life is hid with Christ
in God.” He touches us with the Word – for the LORD gave the Word and
great was the company of those who prophesy these things to come – the
things  now  present  in  His  presence  –  this  Mind  of  God  –  the  Mind  of
Christ and never again the mindset of Babylon – Babylon is fallen and become the habitation of the demonic – now in Christ we are called to come
up higher – come in His Strength by His Grace and Mercy – “Come and
taste and see that He is Good” – let us never again dwell in Babylon – but
let us now dwell more fully day by day in this New Year – dwelling fully
in this Mind of Christ.
“Mortify  therefore  your  members which  are  upon  the  earth;  fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is the
service of idols. For which things the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief, In which you also walked some time, when you lived in
them.”
Amen, even so, come LORD Jesus. We do not live here anymore – we
are walking in Life in Jesus and we dear one are already with Jesus in
Zion’s Celestial City – the City of God – we await dear Savior the Call of
the Midnight Hour.
Oh, to have in this present the heavenly Mind of Christ – freed at last
from all distractions that take us away from that Lovely Face of Jesus, for
now its Visage is marred no longer.
Even so, Come, Lord Jesus – maranatha.
4 – the treasure In our Earthen-ness
O my Beloved, we are weak-ness – we are so weak, but you my GOD
are Strong – we dare not believe our little soul’s strength to be sufficient
for the trials to come – the trials that have come – the sufferings we have
had  to  undergo  –  the  sufferings  to  come. We  are  little  things  that  have
failed all too often – considering our little soul too important to have to
suffer – after all, we feel we should be exempted from trials?
O my GOD and my All – how terrible we are as your sons and daughters – we are so fragile in our feelings for self – our complaints ring out
at the slightest painful sensation – and we, like the weaklings we are – we
flee from the very sight of the potential and probability that will come in
our humanity. We drag our crosses behind us in discontentedness – and
thus, we shall bear less resemblance to your Most Divine Majesty, when
we see you face to face.
O my GOD and my All – what will it take to convert our very essence
into that Image that was Marred for us? My Jesus, O Divine Mercy – have
Mercy upon us and the whole world – for we are little complainers that
cannot seem to remain in silent adoration of our Beloved in our sufferings
– the loneliness with that lowliness we feel – when we should be, O First
Love – we should be silent in your assured Presence – O Come Immanuel
– we are little – but my GOD and my All, you are our Sufficiency – we
desire to BE and BECOME as you desire for our little soul – and we surrender all to our Beloved.
O Compassionate Savor – hear our prayer and come to our assistance –
we cannot do anything without you our GOD and All – we are dependent
upon your Divine Presence and Mercy – hear us O GOD – be to us the
Divine Mercy we know you to BE.
5 – All Because He Is
(December 31
st
, 2013 at the Hermitage of Mary in the Wilderness)
It is all because of Jesus that we have Communion with God alone – “…
for in Christ Jesus all the fullness of Deity lives in bodily form, and you
have been given fullness in Christ, who is the Head over every power and
authority.” (from Colossians 2: 9, 10)
We  have  entered  into  a  full  relationship  with  Christ  Jesus  our  Risen
Lord – dear one, we are in Communion with God, when we are really in
Communion with God through Christ Jesus – circumcised not with human
hands, but in Him – “you are also circumcised in the putting off of the sinful nature … with the circumcision done by Christ.” (Colossians 2: 11)
Dear soul, if we seem to be defeated by our sin and are still enslaved by
sin as though nothing has happened to us – then draw near to Christ and
receive from Him that fullness that is the Communion you have in Him!
Again -- “… for in Christ Jesus all the fullness of Deity lives in bodily
form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the Head over
every power and authority.”
How easily we fall into sin, when we forget whom we are and we do not
draw near to Jesus. When we are “in Christ” we are “new creatures” – if
we are new creatures – then, we are new creations of God – and God does
not make us in order that we might persist in infidelity toward our Spouse!
– Page 7 – – Page 8 –
He calls us to change us – and He changes us into new creations in Him.
What is in question is – Are we getting In the way of this holy and blessed
transformation that we are called to in Christ?
The little soul dreamed that he was asked in the dream by a man, “Are
you in Communion with Christ?” With the deepest assurance, the little
soul  responded  in  the  dream’s  questioning  “man”  –  “Yes,  I  am  in  full
Communion with my Lord Jesus Christ.” This was a dream where he understood the necessity of the Word of God and the Holy Eucharist in the
Church – where He is full Communion with Christ Jesus his Blessed Savior and Lord.
No man is an island dear one…
There is an indelible essence to this remembrance of the sweet Communion he has in Christ Jesus – and it remains “all because of Him.”
WE try so many “avenues” within worldly Babylon – when the only
Way that we ought to follow is Him who is our Truth and Life – alone with
God – alone with Jesus – alone in Communion with God and with one
another in His Holy Fellowship – the Church of the First Born.
It is all because of Him – the New Year comes and goes in Him – all is
passing away and we are coming to the Day of Christ Jesus, when we shall
give account for our Faith.
Dear one, you (we) cannot “dabble” in Babylon and celebrate like a
fool the New Year (as you suppose), for all you will get in time and space
within the world system is the same old ways of the old man that you will
remain. When you celebrate as the world does in Babylon, you walk the
ways  of  the “avenues” of  Babylon. The outcomes are always  the same
old dissatisfaction. We become what we spend time with, if you choose
to forsake the desert places, where Christ awaits you outside of the city of
destruction.
It is because of Him that we go outside the cities of the plain to go on
pilgrimage with Jesus into the wilderness (Cf. Revelation 12)
Because of Him I am a new creation –
In Christ alone – no longer of this nation –
Of Babylon – whose leaders lie and cheat to deceive
The souls away from God alone – who has relieved
Us all of sins tyrannical rule upon our lives –
Our God has made the Way in Christ for Life
In God alone – God alone – God alone in Jesus –
Now, alone – within His Blessed Holy Adoration –
Now in His Quiet Solitude – in Silent Anticipation.
6 – the World Is Passing Away
(January 3
rd
, 2014 at the Hermitage of Mary in the Wilderness)
Our dread is one of final separation from the Beloved LORD and Savior
that we have in Christ Jesus. The dread remains when we have come to
know Him and are known of Him – and it is because we are still fragile beings that have a trial with trusting God fully – for He cannot be “possessed”
and “seen” as we wish to possess and see Him – He remains wholly Other
– and yet, He has come down as One of us (and that without sin).
The little soul thinks in this larger section that comprises the main body
of this booklet – he thinks of what God Himself through St. Paul has said
about His Mercy – the main component of Contemplative Prayer, which
is Prayer that in of the heart that seeks God – because God seeks each and
every one of us to come to Him who is our Perfect Love.
Saint Paul speaks to us of this relationship with Christ Jesus that begins
the removal of all fear through perfect Love:
“And you, when you were dead in your sins, and the uncircumcision of
your flesh; he hath quickened together with him, forgiving you all offenses: Blotting out the handwriting of the decree that was against us, which
was contrary to us. And he hath taken the same out of the way, fastening it
to the cross: And despoiling the principalities and powers, he hath exposed
them confidently in open show, triumphing over them in himself.” (Colossians 2: 13-15)
There is more:
“Therefore, if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above;
where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God: Mind the things that are
above, not the things that are upon the earth. For you are dead; and your
life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ shall appear, who is your life,
then you also shall appear with him in glory.” (Colossians 3: 1-4)
We go through our Life without assurances, because we do not look to
Him who is our Assurance.
We are thinking of the Pathway to Contemplative Prayer – entirely the
Gift of God – and the Person upon whom we focus is the Gift that Gives
as He may, according toHis Mercy toward us sinners.
King David spoke to his own people, the chosen people of Israel – the
Holy Spirit also speaks to us by application in this “shoshanim” (a “lily”
psalm – He speaks of King Messiah – our only Messianic Hope – our Lord
Jesus. Dear soul, if you do not know this of Him, then you may want to
consider Him – for it is only in Him that we know, as we are known of God
alone. God knows us better than what we know ourselves. To know Christ
is to know yourself for what you are – and the Mercy that is the Divine
– Page 9 – – Page 10 –
Mercy that He is on our behalf.
Such Love casts our all fear (all dread), as we draw more closely to
Jesus through the means of His Grace that He has provided. Let us listen
and take to heart this psalm as a prayer of the heart:
Psalm 45, a Lily Psalm, To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for
the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.
The disposition of the soul –
My heart is indicting a good matter: I speak of the things which I have
made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
When we come to God alone, we are coming with a heart in Love with
God – a heart that desires God above all things – a heart that cannot be
satisfied any longer with the trivialities of Babylon – the nonsense of those
distractions that come and go that demand of us the precious ticking moments in time that slip away from us without our even trying to ascertain
where they have gone – for they slip from us before we ever think about
them as they have come and gone – O wasted time – O coming eternity –
for there is eternity written in our heart – and we sense it come to fruition
swiftly.
Our  disposition,  therefore,  must  come  to  see  our  absolute  neediness
before our Beloved God and Savior – He seeks for us the humility to see
Him, for He is meek and lowly toward us – the Lover of our soul.
The Object of our soul’s disposition –
Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips:
therefore God hath blessed thee forever.
It is Jesus that we desire. He is the Desire of the nations – the Desire of
Jerusalem’s lovely daughter – for He came to her, according to the Love of
the Father – through the Holy Spirit – and there in Bethlehem—the House
of Bread – the Bread of Life was laid in the manger where the animals
partook of their food – and now He is our Bread – of Life --- our Good
Shepherd who leads us to Himself – the fullness of His Grace.
Like the shepherds, we must prepare at the announcement of the Glad
Tiding of Great Joy, which shall be to all peoples. O come and see and
taste that he is Good.
Our disposition toward Him is to have that heart that receives the Voice
of God and His calling – Whosoever will may come.
He is Worthy dear one.
The Character of Him to whom we are disposed –
Let us hear what is proclaimed of His Majesty in this Shoshanim.
Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy
majesty. And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the
people fall under thee. Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: the scepter
of thy kingdom is a right scepter.
You see, dear one, it is God who is our Strength – He is the One who
brings us to the place of knowing our insecurities – our dread of knowing that we cannot do this in our own strength – He sees – He remembers
that we are dust – He knows that it is Himself that we must trust – ceasing
from our trying – ceasing from all the arrogance of our pride – ceasing
from the falsity of the self – and opening our hearts up to receive of His
Divine Mercy – Loving God completely – becoming one with Him – for in
Him all the fullness dwells, therefore – in Him alone we find our fullness
through His Grace.
The Beauty of Him we Love –
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy
God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. All thy
garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces,
whereby they have made thee glad. Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.
Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine
own people, and thy father’s house; So shall the king greatly desire thy
beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.
There is such Beauty in His Face.
He is so eternally different from what we know in the false “messiahs”
of our present circumstances. He is far different from the lies of the political and religious establishments that seek their supremely over the LORD
and Master that His Majesty is in the face of their rebellious faces toward
this Face of God in Messiah.
O dear one, cease from trusting men – come to Jesus and trust in Him
alone – be no longer deceived by the mouths that speak great things – the
mouths that roar the deceptions of the enemy of our soul.
Look into His Face in the Gospel and taste and see that Here at last is
the Man that we were meant to be – the new creation in Christ Jesus that
is becoming all we were intended to be in Him – through His working in
what we are working out (Cf. Philippians 2-4)
He is Beautiful – this One who seeks us – this One we seek to know
in contemplative prayer – this One we seek – as He alone bestows His
mercy-drops that fall from time to time – ah, but we await Him in the
showers of blessings to come, as those little Mercy-drops fall around us
from time to time.
Someday…
The extent of His Kingdom that is present and coming –
– Page 11 – – Page 12 –
And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among
the  people  shall  entreat  thy  favour.  The  king’s  daughter  is  all-glorious
within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the king
in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall
be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought:
they shall enter into the king’s palace. Instead of thy fathers shall be thy
children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. I will make
thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people
praise thee forever and ever.
O dear one, rejoice and know that He is not keeping His Person from
anyone  who  seek  Him  –  Jew,  Greek,  slave,  free,  male  or  female  –  He
comes to all who seek Him – He comes to reveal as we are readied to
receive this mercy-drop – the Grace that comes from the Sacred Heart of
God in Christ Jesus.
Like the Blessed Virgin Mother of God (Theotokos) – we are being prepared for the Glory to come because of Him who Loves us so. We are also
being prepared to be presented as chaste virgins also before His Majesty
our true King and Beloved One (Cf. II Corinthians 11)
The Loveliness of Jesus – our King Messiah – for He is Lovely… O,
how we look to our Beloved.
Dear soul, we cannot express this as we ought to express these things –
we can only babble these words like a drunken man filled with too much
wine – and yet, our heart speaks – we also have the pen of a ready writer.
Our heart sinks in the present evil age, as the leaders of this world system think of themselves each as the center of everything, when it is the
true Messiah who made His Cross the Center of this universe – where He
wishes all things to become new through His Death and Resurrection –
and dear one, He will come again in Glory at His Parousia.
The leaders of this world have chosen to ignore Jesus and receive the
falsity  of  another  voice  with  multitudes  of  voices  that  cry  out  and  distract from the Gospel of God’s Grace and Mercy. The world is therefore
marred by men – as they once marred the Face of Him who is All-together
Lovely.
Dear soul, we must come to abandon all thoughts that are distracting
us from Him in this passing world of men – the Name of Jesus is our only
Hope, for there is no Salvation in any other Name but the Name of Jesus.
(Cf. Acts 4: 12)
Listen then to this meditatio scriptorum we have reflected upon and see
Him who is our Person – our Contemplative Prayer – our Center is Christ
Jesus, the Ground of our being in God alone.
We come to God, dear one, as a little child – we cannot understand all
the plans and purposes of God – “known unto God are all His Ways from
the beginning of creation” – for it is God alone – in Him alone that we find
in Jesus alone our Perfect Answer through the means of Grace that He has
provided for those He has called.
7 – the Way of Perfection
The little soul recommends the little book by St. Teresa of Avila, “The
Way of Perfection” for all souls who are seeking God in His Fullness in
monastic  Life  –  or  perhaps  semi-eremitical  expression. This  marvelous
Carmelite nun and Saint of the 16th
century speaks even to solitaries in this
age wherein we find ourselves.
The little soul has been going through each chapter of this work (via
Audio  book  on  the  Kindle  entrusted  to  his  little  hermitage).  St.  Teresa
describes  in  this  illuminated work  the  closeness  we  might  come  to  our
Beloved Spouse, our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
On his second read of this little work by so great a Saint, the little soul
found chapter two especially moving – the good that comes from poverty
– the folly of pleasing people in the world, etc. The scope of this was for
the soul to fix his eyes upon our Spouse – and He provides for the soul’s
needs (completely) – often through the people of God who are moved to
Love God through such provision.
Worry is never encouraged – but anxiety is always discouraged when
we possess little – leaving all anxieties to Him who is our Provider – heaven and earth will fail, but God will never fail us. All suffering is part of
His plan and purpose, and not a matter where God has failed a soul. We
should care little for honor and money – we should care for our Spouse
and see Him as our First Love. Embracing God First – other souls will see
the nature of real (that is genuine) Faith.
Our Beloved Provides for us all immediately – He never does leave or
forsake us.
The little soul becomes more convinced in his older age – he finds himself believing more and more that God does care for us – and that Faith really does have its Substance in Jesus Christ our Savior, LORD and Friend.
Let us observe this Perfect Love toward God and other inwardly. He is
Faithful – our God and our All.
Let our houses be poor and small dear one – we must not try to outdo
the Word of God who Created the universe – He came down in true Poverty and says – Blessed be the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of
Heaven.
– Page 13 – – Page 14 –
8 – the Beloved one – Jesus
(Dear one, there is only One that this little soul must please in Life – and
that is Jesus in Communion with His Church. We walk with God according to the calling of God – whereby we cry “Abba Father”. For the following we speak in these early hours of the morning His precious Word with
Love that is made Perfect through God alone, abba Anthony.)
We are often pulled many directions dear friend – and our soul always
seems to be in need of being accepted in this world of sin and death – we
are fragile creatures that need one another’s attention – when the only One
we really need is Jesus and the Fellowship (Communion) with one another
in the Faith that comes by hearing – and the hearing that comes through
the Word of God. The Holy Spirit teaches us in the Way that we go in Him
– He guides us with His eye.
We take our deepest comfort in God alone and so – “I will bless the
LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night
seasons.”
We are instructed and taught through the Psalms:
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will
guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which
have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle,
lest they come near unto thee. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he
that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the
LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright
in heart.” (Psalm 32: 8-11, Douay)
Dear soul, we are not like the animals that have no understanding – we
are children of God through Faith in Christ Jesus – for those who have
and walk by Faith – Jesus is our Enough – and the Spirit of God helps us
through the teaching of the Church, where we have Communion – where
we have the Holy Scriptures and the sacred Tradition of that Faith handed
down through the centuries by the fathers. We do not have Faith in some
vacuum – for listen to the writer to the Hebrews in the beginning of the
great chapter on Faith:
“Now faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of
things that appear not. For by this the ancients obtained a testimony. By
faith we understand that the world was framed by the word of God; that
from invisible things visible things might be made. By faith Abel offered
to God a sacrifice exceeding that of Cain, by which he obtained a testimony that he was just, God giving testimony to his gifts; and by it he being
dead yet speaketh. By faith Henoch (Enoch) was translated, that he should
not see death; and he was not found, because God had translated him: for
before his translation he had testimony that he pleased God. But without
faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God, must believe that he is, and is a rewarder to them that seek him.” (Hebrews 11:
1-6)
Dear soul, the longer the little soul lives the more convinced he is that
true Faith eludes so many – for so many cannot seem to even pick up the
Holy Scriptures and read them and meditate upon them – and so many
cannot even come to relish and desire the Holy Eucharist with any regularity – these prefer the things of the world over the things of God alone.
You see, dear one, FAITH HAS REAL SUBSTANCE – and dear soul – the
Substance is Christ Jesus our true King and Friend – the very Son of the
Father – the Gospel person from the Mouth of God through the Holy Spirit
of Truth.
We seek other men and their consolations – we rarely seek the very
Word of the Father.
O, the heart of the little soul breaks, when he awakens at these early
hours from the night – and he says within his little soul -- “I will bless the
LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night
seasons.” The Spirit of the LORD speaks tenderly (to the heart of this Jerusalem) and he senses more and more that so many souls cannot just see
Jesus who calls us into Fellowship – that He is our Enough in the wilderness where He calls us to Come and see – to taste that he is Good – to exit
the labors in the slavery of Babylon and seek the release from the burden
of sin we carry upon our back.
When will we be freed from the slave market of sin and take the road
through the mountains to heavenly Jerusalem along the Way of Salvation
in that Sanctification that is whole?
It is a question that so many will never answer, for they will seek the security of this present age – pursuing only a modicum of “easy believism”
where they might not be challenged, as was Enoch who walked with God
– Enoch, whose Faith walked with God in Faith so deep that God took him
Home to Glory one day – for Enoch never died, but was translated on that
final walk to Heaven with Jesus.
The little soul saw in his dream a uniformed man who stood in the Way
to block it with discouragement – for a while the little soul was discouraged – but, then, ignored the discouragement and walked past that uniformed soul on the Way into the mountains.
Here we all should walk with God, for Enoch also proclaimed for us all
to remember these final words in the prophetic little Epistle of St. Jude for
our ears today:
– Page 15 – – Page 16 –
Now of these Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying:
Behold, the Lord cometh with thousands of his saints, To execute judgment
upon all, and to reprove all the ungodly for all the works of their ungodliness, whereby they have done ungodly, and of all the hard things which
ungodly sinners have spoken against God. These are murmurers, full of
complaints, walking according to their own desires, and their mouth speaketh proud things, admiring persons for gain’s sake. But you, my dearly
beloved, be mindful of the words which have been spoken before by the
apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who told you, that in the last time there
should come mockers, walking according to their own desires in ungodlinesses. (St. Jude 1: 14- 18)
The heart of the little soul is breaking as we approach the Fourth Sunday of Advent – who will listen to the Voice of Jesus through St. Jude in
this “last hour” that is spoken of by St. John in his little Epistle of St. John?
Who will take up His Cross and follow Jesus? Who will follow after Christ
in Sanctification that is whole?
The little soul believes only a few in the end – but, like Enoch, a soul is
only responsible finally for proclaiming the Truth – and it was Noah (Noe)
who was saved with his family, when the Judgment of the flood came after
Noah (Noe) had proclaimed that Truth for 120 years more.
Jesus spoke to us of His Own Sufficiency during His proclamation of
the Coming Judgment of our own days. Few will listen to the Truth – for
men prefer death to Him who is our Salvation.
“And as it came to pass in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days
of the Son of man. They did eat and drink, they married wives, and were
given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark: and the flood
came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it came to pass, in the days of
Lot: they did eat and drink, they bought and sold, they planted and built.
And in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone
from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when
the Son of man shall be revealed.” (Gospel of St. Luke 17 26-30)
Rejoice dear one – you are listening to Jesus when you heed God and
head into the mountain paths that leads to Mount Zion. You are listening to God when you also take up your Cross and follow Him, forsaking
Babylon and the cities of the plain – therefore, entering the “Ark” that is
Jesus and His Church – consider HIM dear ones, for He is Enough for the
Christian that desires God alone.
9 – Prayer
We  are  often  distracted  in  our  prayers. We  have  not  arrived. We  are
weak, but God through the Holy Spirit who speaks to us of Christ Jesus
– He is Strong. The desert fathers understood the weakness that we experience as human beings in prayer. Their answer to this problem is what?
– Prayer – for they prayed “around the clock.”
Abba Evagrius said: “If your soul grows weak, pray. As it is written,
pray in fear and trembling, earnestly and watchfully. We ought to pray like
that, especially because our unseen and wicked enemies are vehemently
trying to hinder us.” He also said: “When a contrary thought enters the
heart, do not cast around here and there in your prayer, but be simply penitent and so you will sharpen your sword against your assailant.”
Weakness  is  part  of  our  humanity,  dear  one.  Distractions  are  part  of
what we are – we do have a Treasure – a Treasure in our earthen vessels to
show us that the transcendent Power may be of God and not of ourselves.
(Cf. II Corinthians 4: 6, 7) We do not have the Strength we desire to have
in our own false self. We have the Strength of “Christ in you the Hope of
Glory.” That is our true Self – Christ who is in us and working through us
in our weakness.
Penitence means that we are to be humbled under the Hand of God – to
enter the “valley of humiliations” with Jesus – and to realize what we are
that He seeks to transform fully in His new creation – we are called to see
and confess our weaknesses – to realize and confess our distractions.
We are called to “see Jesus” – to “look unto the Author and Finisher
of our most holy Faith – to Him who is working is and through us, as we
work out this Salvation by Grace. (Cf. Philippians 3 and 4)
We  do  best  when  we  are  completely  honest  with  His  Majesty  –  He
already understands, you see, our frame and remembers that we are dust –
remember Gethsemane? Remember how He prayed that the Cup might be
taken (if possible) from Him? Our humanity is not stronger than His – He
understands our weaknesses. He remembers we are dust. The disciples,
we also remember, slept while Jesus prayed and sweat great drops of His
Precious Blood for you and me in the agony that was His Passion.
We are awakened with His disciples to pray and watch: for the night is
present and we are in the dark night – the morning is closer than it has been
– but the night grows darker for the people of God – we ought to pray – for
the enemy (who is the dragon that sought to devour the woman and her
Seed (the Child caught up into heaven) – the dragon now turns and casts
forth many waters after the remnant of her Seed.
– Page 17 – – Page 18 –
Therefore, let us watch and wait in prayer and fasting in the wilderness
with her – He comes in Glory in the fullness of time – and we shall be His
for all eternity by His Grace through Faith in the Divine Mercy.
Lord Jesus Christ, we are yours completely – teach us to Pray. Ah, but
He has – “Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it
is in heaven. Give us this day our super substantial bread. And forgive us
our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil. Amen.” (St. Matthew’s Holy Gospel 6: 9-13,
Douay-Rheims)
Here are the very words of Christ Jesus – here is His example of the
Prayer that speaks to every issue in the Life we have in Christ Jesus.
the Darkness that Is Light
Within the soul there is a bright darkness that seems to light up like a
lamp that shines at the feet, when walking in the night. It is a darkness that
does not trust in our fellow men any longer; but sees the only trust that is
possible for us is possible in God alone. We are never alone; we are never
by ourselves; we are not abandoned; and yet, we sense the abandonment of
common sense from the midst of our fellow travelers, who wish to forget
the law that is written upon the heart. So many are approaching the Judge
in ways that depart from His Way; and the truths are adopted that do not
seek the Truth in Jesus alone; and thus, life ebbs away in the darkness,
where souls suffer the confusion of knowing not this Light that shines in
the darkness.
My soul dwells in Him who has descended into the dark nights to bring
an unworthy soul into mystical union; as He does so many others that seek
Him in the fullness of His Love. Yet, this little soul falls so short of this
Love that God is in Christ; longing is this little soul for the fullness of this
Love that is Perfect Love Manifested in Jesus alone! It is JESUS who is
this Love; JESUS alone that brings the little soul into the desire for union
with God alone; union in the Place that is quiet and seeks Him above all
the things and sounds of the world system; the Babylon that surrounds;
finding in Him alone the quiet rest of knowing to “be still and know that
I AM God”.
I read a poem this week and again today by Father John Odermann,
OSB, who gave me his collection of writings “Divine Love”; and then
gave me verbal permission to share them well before he went Home to
be with JESUS a few years ago. I remember the intensity of his Love in
relationship with God, when I sat with him in his cell those few years ago
at Assumption Abbey. He handed me a crucifix that he had made and felt
led to give it to our little community in Montana. When he died (and went
to be with JESUS), I took some small stones and soil from his gravesite
at Assumption Abbey (where he is interred); and brought these stones and
soil here to rest under the great Rock before the Cross here at the Hermitage.
Father John spoke to me then of his own “hermitage” within when he
wrote the “Abandoned Heart”:
I sheltered you as a hand cups itself
Over a wind-threatened flame.
You feared nothing because
I cushioned all the hurt
You could ever encounter.
– Page 19 – – Page 20 –
Then, once, I left you alone;
You never knew sorrow until then.
You called My Name. Your soul tossed like driftwood in angry waters,
“My God, what have I done
That you have abandoned me so?”; you cried.
How often have I sensed this in the loneliness wherein I have found that
I am not alone any longer; the timeless Presence of my Beloved One that
does not leave, nor does He forsake the little soul? This little one senses
Him Present in the darkest moments when all have abandoned his tired
and lonely little ship that sails the mind’s oceanic expanse in this fellow
less  firmament;  seeking  and  then  seeing  in  this  darkness  the  Light  that
shines quietly when all other lights are extinguished in the senseless societal abandonment of reason, the natural law of God; the great forsaking; an
apostasy of the human soul away from the God who is Present.
The emptiness of men brings deepening sorrow, when thinking of the
fullness of God in JESUS; a fullness being forsaken by the ships that sail
with the little soul on the sea’s expanse.
“It is better for you that I leave,” I told you.
“My absence will teach you
More than My presence.”
You wilted beneath these words crying,
“No, no, You cannot abandon me!”
You led me so close to You that I can’t turn back.
The world holds nothing for me.
Yet I had to stand back
And let My dark night of the soul purge you.
I saw you slowly slump,
Reduced to one phrase:
“I cannot go on. Help me!”
In that moment of complete helplessness,
You felt My absence as deeply
As you had once felt My presence.”
What is this sense that God so Masterfully employs within our souls;
souls mystically united to His Love (in His Love) in such abandonment?
How is is so such Grace; such Mercy that brings us such a sense of darkness so desired?
You were now molten metal
That I could shape according to
My Divine Plan for you –
And when I brought you out
Of the dark night of the soul,
You were resplendent silver
That caught every reflection
Of splintered light from Me
And became the light that will diffuse
And brighten the path
For countless others.
God seems to work this way in JESUS who is our Way, Truth and Life;
and we cannot understand this working out of what God works within us;
moving from mountain tops into the valleys; back to the mountain tops;
and then plunging again into the valleys where His still and small Voice
is  heard  like  the  Voice  of  the  waters  that  flow  within  the  valleys  from
the  high  places  where  the  mountains  have  received  the  melting  snows.
It does not matter any longer to this little soul that God seems distant so
often; for we have gotten used to the distance of the mountain tops that I
cannot climb as I used to climb when I was younger.
I am satisfied with this; for I await the wings of eagles that will pick me
up from the volcanic slopes of mount Doom; wing that will carry away
the little soul to the Place in God alone that will leave the sorrows and
failures of this world behind; where men prefer the darkness to the Light
that shines in it, showing us the Way in JESUS.
How much the desert has taught me this week.
I wrote far less than I have in the past, because His Presence was carrying the little soul through much darkness; and now He shines in this dark night and brings deep consolations.
There was also a time when I wished for many to come here in live
this life of occasional cloistered silence and solitude in the proximity allowed by a eremitical laura on this smaller 11.9 acre Montana Hermitage
of Mary; but, I am cautioned to wait upon JESUS for those who are really
called to come and live such a life alone with God.
We fail, we have found, only when we make too much haste to fulfill
what we think is God’s will; mistaking it for ours. Therefore, we wait upon
the LORD to renew our strength; to mount up with wings like th eagles; to
run and not be weary; to walk and no longer faint.
JESUS is near.

the cries from a thousand nights
(Hermitage of Mary in the wilderness at 0115 on March 18th, 2014)
I have heard the cries, dear one, of a thousand nights
Alone in the stillness of the heart – with a thousand lights
Shining in the darkest night – the moon shining forth the Luminary
Sign that GOD made for the soul to rule the nights with Mercy –
Mercy that comes to dwell with us as the Comforter in this desolation –
Where the little souls are often hurt and plagued by man’s rejection.
BUT, GOD has made a Place there for the holy people, a remnant
Of her Seed – O, Jesus – the cries of a soul who desires Peace, repentant,
Mourning for the loss of better times – and yet dear one the Best
Of time and eternity has come to him who found his Perfect Rest
In GOD alone – a little solitary one who sees through a dark
Glass – and comes again to know in His desert Place the Ark
That Noah, Enoch and Moses knew – now renewed in HIM
That came as Man to be our Sufficient Sacrifice for sin!
O, Jesus – who am I and why the cries that have sensed the pain
Of such rejection from those beloved? I quietly strain
To understand this pain of past remembrances in time –
But, have quietly and cautiously refrained from “living” in those times.
The newness of Life in Jesus has brought the man of failure
To the Land of Mary’s wilderness – to that vision much fuller
Than what we had before the failures and the deepest pains.
There in His Solitude we find our Savior and True King on the plains
Of Montana’s Big Sky – star shining as Abraham’s Silent Witness
To our Loving Savior’s Victory and the Sun of Righteousness’s
Soon descending in that Day with healing in its wings!

EPILOGUE: Dust and Ashes
(January 6th 2014 from the Motherhouse Hermitage)
We are dust and ashes filled with dread
Thinking of our selves as those twice dead.
But, JESUS brings our hearts into His Light
With Graces and Mercy that brings us flight
To Him alone who gives us Strength –
To walk with Him both day and night.
We are not left as orphaned ones.
We are His children in Christ alone –
Beloved souls so dear to Mercy’s God.
Set aside distraction – behold His nod –
He beckons us to break with sin and follow Him
That we might stand in Him without sin.
His Face is so Lovely – Behold Him say:
“Come unto Me – Come, see My Day.”
In Peace we wait for Him in His Perfect Love.
O, Life and Love – My Prayer has become God alone.

"Never, never, never let anyone tell you that, in order to be Orthodox, you must also be eastern. The West was Orthodox for a thousand years, and her venerable liturgy is far older than any of her heresies."

- Blessed St. John Maximovitch of Shanghai and San Francisco

The purpose for presenting this Daily News section:

Daily News is very important to those who are true Orthodox Catholic Christians.  For without knowing or gaining information for understanding about what is happening in one's local area and around the world, you could  find yourself faced with denied services in the secular area, lack of income, even (although it sounds far-fetched) ability to worship openly for the time is not far off when all will have to decide if they wish to follow the Anti-Christ through the One World Church and One World Government as prophesied by the Apocalypse, the Book of Revelation of St. John or follow the faith delivered once and for all which will cause for many to be denied the abilities to survive under those kind of conditions, causing for one to consider other options.

Many of those who subscribe to, and some who have caused or are the cause for, these things to happen are involved in or with the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church (which is not the seat of all things "Catholic") as well as its protestant daughters such as the cultic Jehovah's Witnesses, the Pentecostal Churches, the Church of Latter Day Saints also known as the Mormon Church and far too many more to list.

Yet, at this web site we do provide some of the reasons about why they are opined to be the harbingers of that which is prophesied in Holy Scripture for the bringing about of the End Times which we have already entered.  It is not necessarily their individual members or parishioners that should be blamed since they are only the "Sheep" and not the Shepherds... So do not think we castigate individual people of themselves as we castigate those "money changers" who Jesus Christ chased out of His Father's House as the Bible Describes; for they exist in these present times too.

Events are already rushing toward that time in which this is beginning to happen and will become more fully wide-spread. In these present times all you need to really do is look around both your local and larger areas as to what is really on-going through.  Things so very little or miniscule that they are barely noticeable except to the more informed observer may become apparent.

Those little things are the laws of the land, economics, politics, the degrading and erosion of those rights and liberties afforded by the Constitution of these United States of America and many other things such as the manner with which entertainments have taken over much of the populace, entering into and becoming a major focus in worship, and more.

We ask you, if you don't want to believe us... Have you heard, seen or found what is termed (of the many terms being used) that there are "holding areas" or "camps" or "Closed/Fenced communities" being built by GOVERNMENT?

Here in North America, especially in the United States of America, we must admit that what Russia has come out of (a communistic, atheist country) we are entering into.  And one last thing that needs also to be understood... Something very important to those of you who are "Catholic" in the Roman sense of its jurisdiction....   And, we believe this also holds true for many who are "Orthodox" whether "Eastern" or "Western"....

[ * Non-Denominational = Synchrestic Ecumenism, Disease of Scholasticism, altering the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ to accommodate the disease of Political Correctness and CULTIC PROTESTANTISM, and the Roman Jurisdiction (Latin Church = Vatican) of the Catholic Church) breaking of - or failure and refusal to respect and abide by  - the ancient Seven Ecumenical "Do Not" Canons which leaves everything else open to God's gift of creativity... failure & refusal to abide by and have respect for those who diligently protect one of the other Pillars of the Church, the Seals of the Confessional, but "Non-Denominational" also includes worshiping Satan's religion of Muslim, Islam by praying with them and other heretics such as 'Pentecostalism,' 'Jehovah's Witnesses,' 'Mormons,' 'Church of Christ,' any so-called church with "Community Church" in their nomenclature and others who by their false and misleading dogmas and doctrines are actually against the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ upon whom and for exacting reason we are called "Christian" in both spirit and truth from which non-denominational protestant sectarian claimants have departed from as being so-called Christian] Only a skilled spiritual father can help you!

Remember: You cannot ride two horses or serve two masters for one of them will be harmed by your thoughts, your very words and your actions which is to blaspheme the Holy Ghost (Spirit) who will depart from you.  And when the Holy Spirit departs, the great deceiver (unbeknownst to you) will rush in to fill the void under disguise of being the Holy Spirit!  Testing of the Holy Spirit to insure it is the Holy Spirit does not, for many a Sectarian Protestant and Roman, work because the Great Deceiver (Satan) is most skilled in worming and snaking his charms around your mind and heart to feign being the Holy Spirit.  Remember, Satan has the same gifts similar to the Holy Spirit but Satan's gifts are UN-HOLY and lead all who accept him (unbeknownst to you) to perdition.
