The Monastic Community of St. John Maximovitch and the Holy Theotokos includes those who live by the Rule of Life of St. Benedict of Nursia (Orthodox Benedictine), St. Francis of Assisi (Orthodox Franciscan), and St. Jude Thaddeus (Thaddean Fathers, also known as Thaddean Companion which equals the Holy Order and Society of St. Jude Thaddeus - For more information see Our Web Pages by clicking here).
The beautiful rich desert dwelling area in which we reside abounds in Yucca plants and other indigenous plants. The mountains in the background is where Rock Hound Park is located. Visitors to the park are allowed to pick up and take with them those stones and rocks for their collection. Just "being" in this surrounding allows for each of us to pray openly or in silence the Jesus Prayer where our hearts are filled with love for Him who is our Lord and Savior....

If you have been up close to Yucca plants, they have a stem that shoots up and flowers at a certain time of year. This photo does not do justice to the numerous amount of Yucca plants in the image above.
This is one of the areas in which some of the old cowboy movies could have been filmed.
This is an area that many an old Spanish and Mexican monk may have traveled. Yet, in our Orthodoxy, we find that where we are located, we come to the realization that the Patristic Fathers of Old, those ancient desert dwellers, knew what they were doing and saying both to God and to man in such a similar setting as this (above)..
A long dirt road that could almost be presumed to have been a dusty wagon wheel trail at one time. But, alas poor fool that some of us are... it is near the "Florida Mountains"... A most picturesque site to see.
This is a material dirt road, a path... it should remind some of us that our lives are just as dirty by our pride, vainness, ego and sometimes worse. Yet, as strugglers in this life for the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ, we are made clean through repentance and seeking for forgiveness not only from God, but especially from our brothers and sisters who truly struggle heavenward. May this path (above) in the photo, remind you of the spiritual path, as it does us who are here, everyone who is professing themselves as Christian, must sooner or later take if any one of us desires to reach a Heavenly Home. For it is not that we are saved just by being a so-called "Christian" but that our struggle in this life, on a similar path, requires us to abide daily by that which we profess which is by what we think, say and do.
Mesquite and Yucca plants abound. When the sun is setting, the area comes alive as the stars in the heavenly clear night affirms that we are one with God if in prayer and giving thanks for allowing us to rise up each day from our bed and sleep where we have laid during the night in despair.
The Setting of the Sun is not seen in this photo, but the background makes one realize the depth of God's bountiful creation of which we are a part. Prayer in the silence of this environment aids in making us all to well aware of our mortality and that while what is seen above has been here far longer than our short, mortal lives, it certainly reminds us that we are provided the means to struggle in our body and spirit without distraction if we apply ourselves.
Back down this path, this road, we go to return to our Skete for Evening Prayer.
Our physical location is three miles from the Mexican-American Border crossing... There are many wonderful sites and a state park nearby... in the Village of Columbus, New Mexico.

In our community... we help each other according to our nature and degree of ability."

Reader: The Vine & Crossroads Newsletter is a new endeavor which will be sent out through e-mail for those who we hope will be receptive to our endeavors to bring you information & news concerning not only our Orthodox Catholic Christian Faith, but concerning all that may have to do with your Religious, Civil and Legal Rights to worship and daily practice your faith. However, at www.apostle1.com we have, as some of you know the DAILY NEWS Section too and we are seeking your help too! Some who may be affected by what is happening in the USA, North, and South America as well as around the world are more than just faithful parishioners of this Jurisdiction (as we are scattered), but clergy from all walks of life and churches too! This is for them as well, even if they are not part of our Jurisdiction or even our faith! We feel that when informed, you can make better decisions toward maintaining your rights of religious bearing as well as, hopefully, your civil rights too. Yet, depending on the country in which you reside, even if it be a State or Province of that country; you may find you will eventually be limited from worshiping and speaking about your faith! So, this struggle that we present as our first newsletter is one out of pain of heart for the faith once and for all delivered by Jesus Christ, the Holy Apostles and Patristic Fathers. Inasmuch as the American Orthodox Church and the North American Orthodox Church is one Jurisdiction of World Wide Orthodoxy; we believe that since our dioceses and parishes are scattered; you need to know what is going on. Our Vladyka +Thaddeus (Metropolitan Archbishop) has granted us permission to provide this endeavor for you to review and comment on with hopes that you will join with us in providing current information and news... Volunteers Sought - - - Queue editors: We need more help in the queue. That's where articles go when writers submit them. Volunteer editors evaluate, edit, clean up and accept or reject articles. Transcribers: we need help transcribing recordings of interviews I do on my radio show and otherwise (the "Otherwise" means other programs not associated with our own efforts). We have a team and you take a share of a recording. Subject/Area Editors: are you passionate about an area? Volunteer as an editor and help find articles to post, writer to recruit to cover the area. Article assignment writers: passionate about an area? Volunteer to accept assignments on specific areas. Graphic artist: help us with art, layout, design for the site. Website developer/programmer: give use counsel, feedback advice on old and new features and functions of the site at http://www.apostle1.com and other websites we maintain. YOU are the most valuable and important aspect of this newsletter. We may need to redesign the newsletter as we explore how we can present our viewers, faithful parishioners, and clergy with the information and news so necessary to stay up-to-date. Included in our newsletters will include information taken from our Western Orthodox Theological Institute (WOTI) and other areas to aide and reaffirm your spiritual and material understandings. Life itself is a religious experience whether or not you go to church on Sunday or stay at home... even if you do not believe in the root, ground and base of all things CHRISTIAN (follower of Jesus Christ) which is established in Orthodox Catholic Christianity itself ... you may find article and information important or interesting to your areas of life and living. Why News for an Orthodox Catholic Christian Church Website?
Daily News is very important to those who are true Orthodox Catholic Christians. For without knowing or gaining information for understanding about what is happening in one's local area and around the world, you could find yourself faced with denied services in the secular area, lack of income, even (although it sounds far-fetched) ability to worship openly for the time is not far off when all will have to decide if they wish to follow the Anti-Christ through the One World Church and One World Government as prophesied by the Apocalypse, the Book of Revelation of St. John or follow the faith delivered once and for all which will cause for many to be denied the abilities to survive under those kind of conditions, causing for one to consider other options.
Many of those who subscribe to, and some who have caused or are the cause for, these things to happen are involved in or with the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church (which is not the seat of all things "Catholic") as well as its protestant daughters such as the cultic Jehovah's Witnesses, the Pentecostal Churches, the Church of Latter Day Saints also known as the Mormon Church and far too many more to list.
Yet, at this web site we do provide some of the reasons about why they are opined to be the harbingers of that which is prophesied in Holy Scripture for the bringing about of the End Times which we have already entered. It is not necessarily their individual members or parishioners that should be blamed since they are only the "Sheep" and not the Shepherds... So do not think we castigate individual people of themselves as we castigate those "money changers" who Jesus Christ chased out of His Father's House as the Bible Describes; for they exist in these present times too.
Events are already rushing toward that time in which this is beginning to happen and will become more fully wide-spread. In these present times all you need to really do is look around both your local and larger areas as to what is really on-going through. Things so very little or miniscule that they are barely noticeable except to the more informed observer may become apparent.
Those little things are the laws of the land, economics, politics, the degrading and erosion of those rights and liberties afforded by the Constitution of these United States of America and many other things such as the manner with which entertainments have taken over much of the populace, entering into and becoming a major focus in worship, and more.
We ask you, if you don't want to believe us... Have you heard, seen or found what is termed (of the many terms being used) that there are "holding areas" or "camps" or "Closed/Fenced communities" being built by GOVERNMENT?
Here in North America, especially in the United States of America, we must admit that what Russia has come out of (a communistic, atheist country) we are entering into. And one last thing that needs also to be understood... Something very important to those of you who are "Catholic" in the Roman sense of its jurisdiction.... And, we believe this also holds true for many who are "Orthodox" whether "Eastern" or "Western"....
