'Libya war could last 30 years': Minister's extraordinary admission
www.dailymail.co.uk
Ministers admitted yesterday that they have no idea how long the military operation against Colonel Gaddafi could take.

Christopher Herman 9:04am Mar 23
"The Charter of the U.N. in Article 2 calls for the "sovereign equality of all its Members." Its Members are States (not We the People). Libya is a member. The U.N. intervention is violating its own Charter. The U.S. government violated its own Constitution repeatedly. The U.N. is violating its Charter by disregarding Libyan sovereignty, and by taking it upon itself to determine the nature of that sovereignty. This is par for the course for governments with charters and constitutions. These documents exist to be violated. By what means do we the peoples control the U.N.? We cannot. We’d best take it apart while we’re taking apart the governments of our respective States.

Article 2 refers repeatedly to international disputes, i.e., disputes that are between or among States, not within States. It ends up saying explicitly that "Nothing in the present Charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state..." The U.N. is violating this provision of its Charter when it intervenes in Libya. Can this organization be trusted?

The Charter perhaps leaves itself a loophole, where it says that "this principle shall not prejudice the application of enforcement measures under Chapter VII." However, that Chapter refers again and again to "international peace and security." By no stretch of the imagination or by any legal maneuvering or mumbo-jumbo does this mean the internal affairs of Libya. International peace means between two nations or among several nations. Libya’s civil war is within Libya. It is not breaking the international peace. The term "international security" is not threatened either, to the extent that this term can be comprehended. If some countries think that they must have Libyan oil in order to maintain their security, they should have managed this risk in other ways before this time. They shouldn’t be using the U.N. and U.N. force to bail them out of their own bad risk management of the past. Even if they impose such force, they might end up making matters worse for themselves. I do not underestimate the ineptitude of any government or any coalition of governments."
On U.N. Intervention in Libya and World Government by Michael S. Rozeff
www.lewrockwell.com
World government is not imminent. I am not ringing that alarm bell. But if we look ahead, we can see it being shaped. The form may be unclear, but we can still make it out. It is not a good political development. It means more centralized power being exercised over people.

Christopher Herman 9:02am Mar 23
"First, the war is likely to grow in scope. Wars do that. It is likely to grow in military scope and it is likely to grow in its political and economic fallout as well. There are going to be ramifications that are now unforeseen and unintended.

Second, I think that the West is lying when it says it didn’t target Gaddafi personally. A missile landed on his compound, didn’t it? They could say it’s a command center, but it all comes down to the same thing. They’d be happy to see him dead. They’ll keep trying.

Third, air power doesn’t win wars. That’s my takeaway from all I’ve ever seen or read about it. The exception may be the A-bombs dropped on Japan, but no one is about to drop H-bombs today without looking like the bad guy and losing all moral authority. So, when some general or some politician starts talking about "winning" in Libya, or needing more air strikes, I discount it. For example, Britain’s Foreign Secretary, William Hague, is quoted as saying that the attacks won’t stop until Gaddafi observes a real cease fire. He assumes that air power can make Gaddafi stop his ground attacks. Maybe, but there’s a high likelihood that they cannot and won’t. I know the technology has changed and the air attacks are more targeted today than in past wars, but the technology on the ground also advances to avoid being targeted. With Iraq and Afghanistan as guidelines, it looks as if it’s going to take a helluva lot of destruction going on for a long time to make Gaddafi capitulate, and while that happens the civilian population is going to be getting killed and suffering. Look what America did to Iraq and how many innocents Clinton killed.

Fourth, there is going to be increased blowback and retaliation by both Gaddafi and any other Arab elements elsewhere that interpret this attack as an attack on Arab lands or Arab religions or Arab peoples in general. They will fight back with whatever weapons they have, including terrorism in Europe and the U.S. When this occurs, this attack on Libya is going to cause the authorities in the West to ramp up their own anti-terror efforts in their countries and turn them even more into police states.

Fifth, countries all over the world that see how Libya is being dismantled at the will of the West and the U.N. are going to look for ways to arm themselves better than in the past, even to getting nuclear weapons as a deterrent to such domination. This war will intensify the procurement of arms and weapons of mass destruction.

Sixth, anyone can see that this has not been done for humanitarian reasons, but to take sides. Britain has reverted to its colonialist mindset and so have France and Italy. Other countries know that this is about controlling the oil and having pliant regimes in places where there is oil. The moral stature or moral leadership of the West is going to go down because of this. This is not to say that those who abstained in the U.N. vote are looking good. China or Russia could have vetoed the resolution if they had had any guts, but they didn’t.

Seventh, there are going to be and already are some voices of relative moderation among U.S. politicians. Obama is trying to walk a line between the most bloodthirsty hawks and the more reluctant hawks (and occasional dove). He acts as if he had to do this. So does Hillary. They are only saying that they are feeling the resource pinch of making another war to preserve the Empire. Their regrets are the regrets of people who discover that running an Empire is not a free lunch. They face constraints like everyone else does. They cannot do everything they’d like to do. Everything costs. They are going to have to give up something in order to make war in Libya. The costs of controlling events and other lands are non-trivial. Their public expressions of regret are not humanitarian in nature. They are simply finding the job tougher than they had supposed.

Eighth, the structure of law is further undermined by this war. There is no declaration of war by Congress. Instead the war is generated by a vote through the U.N. This further trashes the U.S. Constitution, as if it needed any more trashing. It elevates power above law, or transmutes power into law. Any real law is demoted or disappears altogether.

Ninth, those in the West and in the Arab League who joined this civil war, in effect starting a new war of their own that I call the Libyan War, are already dividing one from another. Each has its own political and economic objectives. The objectives of this war are already clouded. No one in the West really knows why it is being conducted or can state clearly what circumstances will bring the war to a close. When there is no declaration of war or only a vaguely-worded U.N. statement that fails to present clear objectives, this is one of the outcomes.

Tenth, I have the suspicion or expectation that the air attacks will induce Gaddafi to adopt tactics on the ground that are even more deadly to anyone who stands in his way. If he is killed, some new colonel is likely to step up in his place. Libya could be at war for quite some time.

This all suggests to me that the West will introduce ground forces into Libya."
The U.N. Goes to War by Michael S. Rozeff

"...here are some thoughts on Libya that are crossing my mind today for what they are worth."

"Yet, even as Obama was announcing U.S. intervention to prevent "unspeakable atrocities," security police of Yemen's President Saleh, using sniper rifles, massacred 45 peaceful protesters and wounded 270. Most of the dead were shot in the head or neck, the work of marksmen.

Had Mahmoud Ahmadinejad done this in Tehran, would U.S. protests have been so muted?

In Bahrain, 2,000 Saudi soldiers and troops from emirates of the Gulf have intervened to save King Khalifa, whose throne was threatened by Shia demonstrators in the Pearl roundabout in Manama. The town square was surrounded, the Shia driven out, the 300-foot Pearl monument destroyed.

This crackdown on Bahrain's Shia has been denounced by Iran and Iraq. Grand Ayatollah Sistani, most revered figure in the Shia world, ordered seminaries shut in protest. This is serious business.

Not only are the Shia dominant in Iran, and in Iraq after the Americans ousted the Sunni-dominated Baathist Party, they are heavily concentrated in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, where the oil deposits are located.

They are a majority in Bahrain, where the U.S. Fifth Fleet is based. Shia Hezbollah is now the dominant military and political force in Lebanon.

Riyadh must have regarded the threat to Bahrain a grave one to have so exacerbated the religious divide and raised the specter of sectarian war.

Yet, again, why are we bombing Libya?

Gadhafi did not attack the West. He faced an uprising to dethrone him and rallied his troops to crush it, as any ruthless ruler would have done. We have no vital interest in who wins his civil war. "
A Foolish and Unconstitutional War by Patrick J. Buchanan

The Arab League and African Union are denouncing us, but al-Qaida is with us. For eastern Libya provided more than its fair share of jihadists to kill U.S. soldiers in Iraq. And jihadists are prominent among the rebels we just rescued.

"The standard answer, drawing on the Constitution, is Congress. One of American democracy's quaint conceits, after all, is that laws should be made by the people American voters have elected.

But that old-school answer doesn't satisfy those in the progressive "transnational legal norms" movement. Frustrated that elected officials often refuse to enact the measures they favor, these reformers aim to persuade judges that progressive ideas on war crimes, arms control, the death penalty and other matters should be accepted as rights. They encourage judges to ground these rights not in local statutes produced by legislators, but in treaties, laws and court decisions of other countries, in academic writing, and in customary international law.

This legal movement, potent in Europe, has had less success in this country, where citizens fervently safeguard democratic accountability and national sovereignty. But Mr. Obama has brought some eminent transnational law supporters into his administration, including the chief lawyer at the State Department, Harold Koh. And the president's announcement about the proper way to treat wartime detainees is a precedent-setting endorsement of transnational legal theory. "

"A "humanitarian war" would be "good for business". It serves the interests of the institutional speculators, it contributes to a further process of appropriation of money wealth.

Financial institutions which had prior knowledge or intelligence of events in Egypt and Libya have already made billions of dollars in speculative gains in the futures and options markets for crude oil.

These global financial and banking institutions, which "placed their bets" several months ago, have "a vested interest in war". The greater the turmoil and disruption of the crude oil market, the greater the speculative gains. Short term speculative gains due to market volatility are also part of this process. Foreknowledge of the sequence of political or military events and how they affect markets as well as control and/or manipulation of financial news pertaining to these events are an essential part of the betting process.

In this regard we are dealing the with workings of the World's commodity exchanges, the most important of which is the powerful CME Group created following the merger of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). "

"Foreign oil companies operating prior to the insurrection in Libya include France's Total, Italy's ENI, The China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), British Petroleum, the Spanish Oil consortium REPSOL, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Occidental Petroleum, Hess, Conoco Phillips.

Of significance, China plays a central role in the Libyan oil industry. The China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) had a workforce of some 400 employees. The total Chinese workforce in Libya was of the order of 30,000.

Eleven percent (11%) of Libyan oil exports are channelled to China. While there are no figures on the size and importance of CNPC's production and exploration activities, there are indications that they are sizeable.

More generally, China's presence in North Africa is considered by Washington to constitute an intrusion. From a geopolitical standpoint, China is an encroachment. The military campaign directed against Libya is intent upon excluding China from North Africa. "

There is much, may be (according to some) too much!  But there is never such a thing as "too much" when attempting to learn and live the life a true Christian.... For indeed if we are true Christians, we each and every one of us needs information that will enlarge , or - at least, enhance our spiritual understandings.

We must entrust our soul into the hands of God the +Father, the +Son, and the +Holy Spirit who, as one God (the Holy Trinity) is the source of all life and abundance for us who are still in this earthly vessel.  He knows our strengths (and our weaknesses) for he gave us strength... It is our failings and sins that make us weak in spirit!  If He were to give us one dollar in conformity to our strength, we should not seek five, so as not to grow faint under the weight of having too much, so that the gift which is intended to serve to the good would not serve to the our great condemnation.  We must flee from our sinful falls not to reclusion, not to the desert, but to self reproach, to confession of our sins - to repentance! Our perplexity, our reasoning and our will - we must plunge them into the abyss of the munificence and Providence of God!

Thank You!

"Never, never, never let anyone tell you that, in order to be Orthodox, you must also be eastern. The West was Orthodox for a thousand years, and her venerable liturgy is far older than any of her heresies."

- Blessed St. John Maximovitch of Shanghai and San Francisco

The purpose for presenting this Daily News section:

Daily News is very important to those who are true Orthodox Catholic Christians.  For without knowing or gaining information for understanding about what is happening in one's local area and around the world, you could  find yourself faced with denied services in the secular area, lack of income, even (although it sounds far-fetched) ability to worship openly for the time is not far off when all will have to decide if they wish to follow the Anti-Christ through the One World Church and One World Government as prophesied by the Apocalypse, the Book of Revelation of St. John or follow the faith delivered once and for all which will cause for many to be denied the abilities to survive under those kind of conditions, causing for one to consider other options.

Many of those who subscribe to, and some who have caused or are the cause for, these things to happen are involved in or with the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church (which is not the seat of all things "Catholic") as well as its protestant daughters such as the cultic Jehovah's Witnesses, the Pentecostal Churches, the Church of Latter Day Saints also known as the Mormon Church and far too many more to list.

Yet, at this web site we do provide some of the reasons about why they are opined to be the harbingers of that which is prophesied in Holy Scripture for the bringing about of the End Times which we have already entered.  It is not necessarily their individual members or parishioners that should be blamed since they are only the "Sheep" and not the Shepherds... So do not think we castigate individual people of themselves as we castigate those "money changers" who Jesus Christ chased out of His Father's House as the Bible Describes; for they exist in these present times too.

Events are already rushing toward that time in which this is beginning to happen and will become more fully wide-spread. In these present times all you need to really do is look around both your local and larger areas as to what is really on-going through.  Things so very little or miniscule that they are barely noticeable except to the more informed observer may become apparent.

Those little things are the laws of the land, economics, politics, the degrading and erosion of those rights and liberties afforded by the Constitution of these United States of America and many other things such as the manner with which entertainments have taken over much of the populace, entering into and becoming a major focus in worship, and more.

We ask you, if you don't want to believe us... Have you heard, seen or found what is termed (of the many terms being used) that there are "holding areas" or "camps" or "Closed/Fenced communities" being built by GOVERNMENT?

Here in North America, especially in the United States of America, we must admit that what Russia has come out of (a communistic, atheist country) we are entering into.  And one last thing that needs also to be understood... Something very important to those of you who are "Catholic" in the Roman sense of its jurisdiction....   And, we believe this also holds true for many who are "Orthodox" whether "Eastern" or "Western"....

[ * Non-Denominational = Synchrestic Ecumenism, Disease of Scholasticism, altering the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ to accommodate the disease of Political Correctness and CULTIC PROTESTANTISM, and the Roman Jurisdiction (Latin Church = Vatican) of the Catholic Church) breaking of - or failure and refusal to respect and abide by  - the ancient Seven Ecumenical "Do Not" Canons which leaves everything else open to God's gift of creativity... failure & refusal to abide by and have respect for those who diligently protect one of the other Pillars of the Church, the Seals of the Confessional, but "Non-Denominational" also includes worshiping Satan's religion of Muslim, Islam by praying with them and other heretics such as 'Pentecostalism,' 'Jehovah's Witnesses,' 'Mormons,' 'Church of Christ,' any so-called church with "Community Church" in their nomenclature and others who by their false and misleading dogmas and doctrines are actually against the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ upon whom and for exacting reason we are called "Christian" in both spirit and truth from which non-denominational protestant sectarian claimants have departed from as being so-called Christian] Only a skilled spiritual father can help you!

Remember: You cannot ride two horses or serve two masters for one of them will be harmed by your thoughts, your very words and your actions which is to blaspheme the Holy Ghost (Spirit) who will depart from you.  And when the Holy Spirit departs, the great deceiver (unbeknownst to you) will rush in to fill the void under disguise of being the Holy Spirit!  Testing of the Holy Spirit to insure it is the Holy Spirit does not, for many a Sectarian Protestant and Roman, work because the Great Deceiver (Satan) is most skilled in worming and snaking his charms around your mind and heart to feign being the Holy Spirit.  Remember, Satan has the same gifts similar to the Holy Spirit but Satan's gifts are UN-HOLY and lead all who accept him (unbeknownst to you) to perdition.

The lives of monks consist of a podvig [(spiritual struggle) exploit] of repentance and of withdrawal from the world. They flee from judging their neighbor in his moral falls, considering themselves to be sinners and the worst of all men.

But, when it is demanded of monks and other clergy, that they remain humble and indifferent to questions of faith, then do they cast off humility and obedience. It is demanded of them, by the conscience of the Church, the faith in and for the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ that They rise up when the truth of Orthodoxy is threatened. They are supported in this by a living conscience and by a sense of responsibility for that faith for which our forebears-martyrs and confessors alike-sacrificed everything, even their very lives.  As a result we have opted to present to you the story about "Modern Day Ecumenism and its horrors" along with various links to who just a few of these Synchrestic Ecumenists are who threaten the root and branch of Christianity as exists in true Orthodox Catholic Christianity (Both Orthodox and Roman)!

"I understand the idea of sodomy and homosexuality, but to say that homosexuality is not a sin is incorrect and not just in my mind but all of Orthodoxy and again, not just in Orthodoxy but all of Catholicism and again, not simply all of Catholicism but all of Christianity with the exception of those who have this in their personal life as sin or are very close to someone who does. Celibacy or Married Life is the ultimate ideal.  For both Homosexuality and Heterosexuality are truly sinful if... and below is the hard part of this understanding..." (Ed. Note: We have never said "homosexuality is not a sin or okay... however, there are those who, being homosexual, are that way for a variety of reasons.  Jesus Christ talked of these kinds as referring to Eunuchs.  The conversion tactics employed by many other groups, bespeaks of a "politics" that is not wholly honest either spiritually or even materially.  For, in their endeavors they have failed to show forth the truth that one is driven into a "closet" style of life.  It is better, we believe, to become wholly celibate, be it a homosexual or even heterosexual... and to learn what "celibacy" really means and requires).

If a man looks on a woman who is not his wife with lust, he has sinned. If he and she are married to other people he has committed adultery. If a man looks at a man with lust he has sinned the same as a man who looks at a woman. Sodomy does not have to enter into it, lust for someone is a sin by itself and must be removed. But people do this all day long to be sure but it is still a sin. To say that homosexuality and heterosexuality are not a sin due to their lusting, allows both heterosexuals and homosexuals to live in sin without repentance and this is wrong to do to them spiritually.

It is for the sake of their own soul that one has to recognize sin that is in them and not to excuse it regardless of the sin or the preference of the sinner. Sodomy is indeed a sin regardless of what any one may tell you, the act of attraction or the lust is a sin even without action and simply must be repented of by both heterosexuals and homosexuals. I must also add this; woe to all who misguide others into sin and especially those who are of the clergy who do this. For the sake of your own soul and others, you must recognize this and repent. I know that it is not easy to overcome and if it is never overcome then one must live a life of constant repentance, that is the only choice.
