Rev. Father Deacon Christopher Herman News (DCHN) Presentations For:

February 18, 2012 - Saturday's note, opinion and commentary:

We thank Rev. Father Deacon Christopher Herman, the son of our former spiritual father, Vladyka Michael Peter Herman of reposed memory for providing us the articles and their various links.

We believe that what is presented is a step in the right direction to bring our Orthodox Faith alive to all and a means to cure some of the ills that separate our Roman faithful from the root, ground and base of all things Christian: being Orthodox Catholic Christianity that began in the A.D. 800's and culminated in the official schism of the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church from Orthodoxy in 1054 A.D.

By presenting these articles and informational pages and subsequent, hoped for, weekly presentations, this endeavor will reach a wider audience and provide a means for dialogue.  For it is in and through the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ, our Savior, that love, compassion and understanding may come about.  In saying this truth, it also means that we make another attempt to fulfill the ideal of why we are called "Christian" ...

Orthodoxy is not a religion.  It is CHRISTIANITY itself! To a true Christian, the events taking place through out the world and locally in the USA today is important because of how it may (and in some instances has) affected our religious rights and freedoms here in the U.S.A and in some other Western World Countries already.

Initially we had begun by "Subject" but found that by "DATE" is a better format.  Thus, the former entitled "Concerning" below are a form of archival resources while the remainder is by dating.

Please note that when you click on an article, you will be taken away from this web site and you will need to click on your "back button" or "Return Button" (sometimes an arrow signifying 'back' ...)

As Thou, Father, art in me and I in Thee; that they also may be one in Us. (John 17:21)

"Notice that his question is not about whether the Ryan plan is a good plan. Gingrich had already praised the plan. The question was, should Republicans buck public opposition and completely change Medicare? Gingrich's answer was a criticism not of the change, but how it should be implemented. Not because it wasn't the right thing to do, but because politicians should get the public behind it first. Note what Gingrich said:

***I don't think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering. I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate. I think we need a national conversation to get to a better Medicare system with more choices for seniors. I think that that is too big a jump. I think what you want to have is a system where people voluntarily migrate to better outcomes, better solutions, better options, not one where you suddenly impose upon the--I don't want to--I'm against Obamacare, which is imposing radical change, and I would be against a conservative imposing radical change.***

Notice that Gingrich was now making a generalization of his own. It was about how to change government in a positive manner. Gingrich is recommending a more gradual change so that the American people would be persuaded to approve of such a plan. So was Gingrich right? Of course he was. The plan didn't pass. The duly elected representatives of the people in the U.S. Senate voted no.

On September 29, 2011, Gingrich introduced his own Medicare plan as part of his 21st Century Contract With America. It includes a Medicare premium support plan which allows for immediate but voluntary participation. It is a more user-friendly proposal and one that is more likely to pass Congress. It doesn't change the whole system right away, but it lets seniors choose between the old and new systems. Seniors are more likely to approve this plan, and so are their representatives."

"There are reasonable arguments to be made about ending the war on drugs, the same as there were good reasons for states to drop bans on casinos. But to argue that anyone who takes note of the plague of social pathologies the influx of casinos have brought with them wherever they have been built can’t also claim to be an advocate of limited government is off the mark.

Unlike real nanny state issues, legalized gambling is not so much a matter of private choice of a form of entertainment as much as it is one of enabling a business whereby the state profits from the exploitation of the poor and the middle class. While it can be asserted that individuals should have the right to become addicts and destroy their lives and families via gambling, the same can be said about heroin. The only difference right now is that government takes a hefty cut of the profit in gambling while the billions made from the drug trade now only go to criminals. Though legalization of drugs might be a money maker for states that face budget crunches, most Americans are rightly so horrified by the human cost of drug addiction they cannot stomach a measure that libertarians advocate.

When it comes to gambling, most of us are less squeamish. Perhaps that is because the destruction of lives and families that are caused by gambling don’t seem quite as shocking as habits that involve needles. And yet the link between gambling and crime is as strong as that of drugs.

Some also argue that the nature of drug use is such that they destroy more users than the percentage of gamblers who are dragged under by that addiction. That may be true, but society bans many things as dangerous that affect far fewer numbers of people than the vast number of Americans whose lives have been wrecked by legalized gambling. It is also true that one can make the same arguments against gambling at home on the Internet for alcohol, whose abuse probably does more damage than drugs and gambling combined. However, the difference is unlike the liquor industry, legalized gambling is something that always morphs into a quasi-government business.

Santorum speaks for many, if not most Americans, when he says encouraging the spread of legalized gambling isn’t good for the country. What’s more, it ill behooves conservatives or libertarians to be encouraging an industry whose main purpose has always been to encourage the growth of government. Far more than individual rights, it is big government that stands to gain the most from legalization. The untold billions it will gain from its share of the take in legalized Internet gambling will feed the same state leviathan conservatives and libertarians abhor."

"As Glenn Greenwald and Greg Sargent have argued most forcefully, it's because Obama can do hawkish things as a Democrat that a Republican could not (or at least not without facing lots of trouble on the home front). It's the flipside of the old "Nixon Goes to China" meme: Obama can do hawkish things without facing (much) criticism from the left, because he still retains their sympathy and because liberals and non-interventionists don't have a credible alternative (sorry, Ron Paul supporters). If someone like John McCain, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich or George W. Bush had spent the past few years escalating drone attacks, sending Special Forces into other countries to kill people without the local government's permission, prosecuting alleged leakers with great enthusiasm, and ratcheting up sanctions against Iran, without providing much information about exactly why and how we were doing all this, I suspect a lot of Democrats would have raised a stink about some of it. But not when it is the nice Mr. Obama that is doing these things."

"A PR bubble was inflated around the megaupload affair. Some Kim guy got a jet, imagine. This peasant! So he was no Robin Hood, but a greedy fat fuck. Maybe. The Lehman Brothers bank, the collpase of which got the dominoes falling, owned six (6) jets and a helicopter, and their actions and eventual meltdown actually hurt many real people. We live in a post-Lehman global depression, not in a post-Kim one. Who is being put on trial and for what, I wonder.

All this is almost irrelevant, of course, blood for the ‘media’. Shouldn’t we rather question the extraordinary appetite for Kim’s services? Don’t we like real cinemas, good concerts, the feel of a fine hardcover anymore? I’d bet we do. What some of us don’t like is paying for the ‘costly and unreasonable risk’ of seeing yet another Hollywood piece of trash in a goddamn multiplex. What some of us hate is to discover that a book which costs an ‘unsustainable’ $70 is yet another academic waste of paper."

"If you were trying to come up with a definition of misplaced intellectual arrogance, you could not do better than having the planet’s most famous atheist issuing diktats on who does and doesn’t count as a proper Christian. Prof Dawkins then announced, triumphantly, that an “astonishing number [of Christians] couldn’t identify the first book in the New Testament”.

The transcript of the next minute or so only hints at how cringingly, embarrassingly bad it was for Dawkins.

Fraser: Richard, if I said to you what is the full title of The Origin Of Species, I’m sure you could tell me that.

Dawkins: Yes I could.

Fraser: Go on then.

Dawkins: On the Origin of Species…Uh…With, oh, God, On the Origin of Species. There is a sub-title with respect to the preservation of favoured races in the struggle for life."

What made the war a particular liability for Santorum was his dogged insistence that the Iraq war had been right and necessary when the overwhelming majority of Americans had realized that it had been a horrible mistake. Santorum’s greatest liability is not just that he favors a more aggressive foreign policy than the disastrous one Bush pursued in his first term, but that he is even more stubborn in defense of Bush’s bad policies than Bush was, and we could expect the same mindless “stay the course” approach from a President Santorum."

"According to the Paul campaign, the Maine Republican Party is severely under-reporting Paul's results — and Romney isn't getting the same treatment. For example, nearly all the towns in Waldo County — a Ron Paul stronghold – held their caucuses on Feb. 4, but the state GOP reported no results for those towns. In Waterville, a college town in Central Maine, results were reported but not included in the party vote count. Paul beat Romney 21-5 there, according to the Kennebec County GOP.

"It's too common," senior advisor Doug Wead told Business Insider. "If it was chaos, we would expect strong Romney counties to be unreported, and that's not what's happening."

The Maine Republican Party won't decide which votes it will count until the executive committee meets next month. But Wead points out that even if Mitt Romney holds on to his slim lead, it will be a Pyrrhic victory.

"He will have disenfranchised all of these people," Wead said. "It could be a costly victory — it is a mistake."

The (alleged) bias against Paul may also be the product of an organic opposition to the libertarian Congressman and his army of ardent fans. Paul volunteers tend to be young and relatively new to party politics, and their presence has many state GOP stalwarts feeling territorial.

"People feel threatened — they don't want to see a bunch of kids who may have voted for Barack Obama take over," Wead said. "They feel a sense of ownership over the party — but there has to be an accommodation."

But state party machinations are already starting to backfire. The Paul campaign believes it has won the majority of Maine's delegates — and the perceived election fraud has galvanized Paul supporters to demand their votes be counted in the state's straw poll 'beauty contest.'"

"With the Volcker Rule becoming law, small cap banks such as Park Sterling Bank (NASDAQ: PSTB), Seacoast Banking (NASDAQ: SBCF), and Synovus Financial Corporation (NYSE: SNV) could prosper as major financial institutions such as JP Morgan (NYSE: JPM) and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) are looking at significant losses of revenue.

The Volcker Rule, propounded by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Voclker, limits the types of trading that banks can do. This trading has been very lucrative for banks. It has been crucial for many to emerge from the carnage of The Great Recession.

Now that this trading is ending, banks will be forced to prosper from traditional activities. This is where many small cap banks have a huge advantage as they did not make the mistakes of expensive acqusitions like Bank of America. In its acquisition of Country Credit, which cost $4 billion in September 2008, Bank of America has already had to pay more than $30 billion in write offs, settlments, etc. More costs associated with this acquisiton are looming down the road. In the past year, Bank of America has fallen by about 50%. JP Morgan was just downgraded.

In addition, the economic conditions that allowed for these gains for major banks will not last forever. Most of the revenues for many were from brokerage commissions, investment banking fees and trading revenues. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index increased 93 percent from March 2009 to March 2011. This is not going to happen again, anytime soon. Mergers and acquisitons are at a record pace for 2011, generating huge investment banking fees from these transactions. These conditions will not last forever.

For these reasons, the financial sector has been the worst performing segment of the Dow Jones Industrial Average for 2011. Small banks, by their very nature, do not depend on investment banking fees, trading revenues or brokerage commissions for the bulk of income. By focusing on local markets and lending in the area, banks such as Park Sterling Bank, Seacoast Banking, and Synovus Financial Corporation could rebound as JP Morgan and Bank of America decline."

"The famously conservative Bank of Japan surprised the markets on Tuesday with two new measures to battle the country's long-running decline in prices, or deflation. The Japanese central bank announced a sizable ¥10 trillion ($129 billion) expansion in an asset-purchase program to ¥65 trillion by buying more long-term government bonds. Also, for the first time the bank set what amounts to a numerical target for inflation.

The BOJ action followed the Bank of England's vote last week to increase its government-bond purchases and the European Central Bank's move last week to expand aspects of its program of making cheap three-year loans to European banks. These announcements followed the U.S. Federal Reserve's signaling last month that it could hold interest rates near zero through 2014 and is considering another round of securities purchases to support the U.S. recovery."

"Never, never, never let anyone tell you that, in order to be Orthodox, you must also be eastern. The West was Orthodox for a thousand years, and her venerable liturgy is far older than any of her heresies."

- Blessed St. John Maximovitch of Shanghai and San Francisco

The purpose for presenting this Daily News section:

Daily News is very important to those who are true Orthodox Catholic Christians.  For without knowing or gaining information for understanding about what is happening in one's local area and around the world, you could  find yourself faced with denied services in the secular area, lack of income, even (although it sounds far-fetched) ability to worship openly for the time is not far off when all will have to decide if they wish to follow the Anti-Christ through the One World Church and One World Government as prophesied by the Apocalypse, the Book of Revelation of St. John or follow the faith delivered once and for all which will cause for many to be denied the abilities to survive under those kind of conditions, causing for one to consider other options.

Many of those who subscribe to, and some who have caused or are the cause for, these things to happen are involved in or with the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church (which is not the seat of all things "Catholic") as well as its protestant daughters such as the cultic Jehovah's Witnesses, the Pentecostal Churches, the Church of Latter Day Saints also known as the Mormon Church and far too many more to list.

Yet, at this web site we do provide some of the reasons about why they are opined to be the harbingers of that which is prophesied in Holy Scripture for the bringing about of the End Times which we have already entered.  It is not necessarily their individual members or parishioners that should be blamed since they are only the "Sheep" and not the Shepherds... So do not think we castigate individual people of themselves as we castigate those "money changers" who Jesus Christ chased out of His Father's House as the Bible Describes; for they exist in these present times too.

Events are already rushing toward that time in which this is beginning to happen and will become more fully wide-spread. In these present times all you need to really do is look around both your local and larger areas as to what is really on-going through.  Things so very little or miniscule that they are barely noticeable except to the more informed observer may become apparent.

Those little things are the laws of the land, economics, politics, the degrading and erosion of those rights and liberties afforded by the Constitution of these United States of America and many other things such as the manner with which entertainments have taken over much of the populace, entering into and becoming a major focus in worship, and more.

We ask you, if you don't want to believe us... Have you heard, seen or found what is termed (of the many terms being used) that there are "holding areas" or "camps" or "Closed/Fenced communities" being built by GOVERNMENT?

Here in North America, especially in the United States of America, we must admit that what Russia has come out of (a communistic, atheist country) we are entering into.  And one last thing that needs also to be understood... Something very important to those of you who are "Catholic" in the Roman sense of its jurisdiction....   And, we believe this also holds true for many who are "Orthodox" whether "Eastern" or "Western"....

[ * Non-Denominational = Synchrestic Ecumenism, Disease of Scholasticism, altering the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ to accommodate the disease of Political Correctness and CULTIC PROTESTANTISM, and the Roman Jurisdiction (Latin Church = Vatican) of the Catholic Church) breaking of - or failure and refusal to respect and abide by  - the ancient Seven Ecumenical "Do Not" Canons which leaves everything else open to God's gift of creativity... failure & refusal to abide by and have respect for those who diligently protect one of the other Pillars of the Church, the Seals of the Confessional, but "Non-Denominational" also includes worshiping Satan's religion of Muslim, Islam by praying with them and other heretics such as 'Pentecostalism,' 'Jehovah's Witnesses,' 'Mormons,' 'Church of Christ,' any so-called church with "Community Church" in their nomenclature and others who by their false and misleading dogmas and doctrines are actually against the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ upon whom and for exacting reason we are called "Christian" in both spirit and truth from which non-denominational protestant sectarian claimants have departed from as being so-called Christian] Only a skilled spiritual father can help you!

Remember: You cannot ride two horses or serve two masters for one of them will be harmed by your thoughts, your very words and your actions which is to blaspheme the Holy Ghost (Spirit) who will depart from you.  And when the Holy Spirit departs, the great deceiver (unbeknownst to you) will rush in to fill the void under disguise of being the Holy Spirit!  Testing of the Holy Spirit to insure it is the Holy Spirit does not, for many a Sectarian Protestant and Roman, work because the Great Deceiver (Satan) is most skilled in worming and snaking his charms around your mind and heart to feign being the Holy Spirit.  Remember, Satan has the same gifts similar to the Holy Spirit but Satan's gifts are UN-HOLY and lead all who accept him (unbeknownst to you) to perdition.
