Synaxis of the Archangels Michael & Gabriel and all the Heavenly Powers

Dear Brothers and Friends in Christ Jesus;

Greetings and Blessings to all. Unlike the works of the flesh, the "Fruits of the Spirit" burst forth freely from the inner principles of a God based life. These fruits of the Spirit are; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control, (Gal.5,22-23).

These fruits originate from a deep and abiding faith in Christ, and they influence one to do good to others in hope, love and charity. Through these virtues, we have the ability to transmit the power of divine Grace to those who lack the power of these virtues in themselves. Let us bear in mind that the fruits of the spirit are NOT for the sake of the virtues themselves, rather they are transmitting powers which change vices into virtues. They are not created by mankind, they are divine gifts from God for mankind's spiritual happiness and for his desire to do good for others.

Christians who apply these "fruits of the Spirit" in their daily lives, live in a spiritual environment far beyond the boundaries of human society. Love, Joy and Peace are interlocked to achieve the same goal of fulfilling the Will of God, from Whom they are received through Divine Grace. Love is expressed through the sacrifice of oneself for others, Joy is derived from love, and it creates within us a natural desire to serve others, and Peace is the inner calmness which we feel deep in our souls when we have helped lead others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

In this, the month when we as a nation celebrate Thanksgiving, we should give special thanks to God for giving us the "Gifts of the Fruits of the Spirit" by making an extra effort to reach out and plant the seeds of these Fruits in others.
