THADDEAN FATHERS HOMELESS PALM SUNDAY SERVICES HELD

Over 14 homeless men and women attended Palm Sunday Services provided by the Thaddean Fathers, at one of the local parks early Sunday Morning.
His Eminence, Metropolitan Archbishop +Joseph Thaddeus, SSJt. and His Grace +Bishop Matthias, SSJt. conducted sunrise Divine Liturgy for the homeless with the giving out of food and clothing. Before services began, confessions were heard.
Three of the attendees have volunteered their help for future events because, said one woman, "We see no viable alternative by the Catholic churches in this area". One of the men, standing alongside the woman, stated that "The homeless here are run out if they are caught panhandling. The police don't bother us until we ask for help when we're on the streets during the day." Another man said, "I lost my job to attrition at one of the local companies where I had been a supervisor for more than eleven years. I have no living relative and when I've applied for employment, most employers want young people. I was raised Roman Catholic and when I've gone to any of the local shelters I've been told I have to worship with them. I'm not protestant but Catholic. I know the difference. So I don't even bother any more with the shelters. The most that has been done for me is this morning when FatherS Thaddeus and Matthias provided me the means for true worship, clothing and food. They made no demands and that's a good thing."
A young man of about 30 years of age came up to this news reporter and said, "I've been on and off the street here in Deming, New Mexico over the last three years because of drugs. I know the past history of Father Thaddeus and it doesn't bother me because I also know the truth. My father was in law enforcement. He told me what the real truth is because he saw the records, not the ones in newspapers. After talking with Father Thaddeus, I see that my father did not twist the facts, as parents sometimes do to get us kids to do something they want. The only thing my father neglected was to tell me that Father Thaddeus and Father Matthias are the most kind hearted men I've ever come across. Dad said he was a good man for what he did in the past to safeguard the Seals of the Confessional, but I didn't understand what that all meant. After talking with Father Thaddeus, I can now see why the Church of the East and West is in so much trouble. There aren't enough men like these two men of Christ. They are down-to-earth. They don't speak double talk. Because of what I know I asked them questions and they responded with what I have known to be true. I trust them! I've found, since living on the streets that not all who are called preachers, ministers, father, or pastor can be trusted. These men can. They can be trusted with my very life." Why? "Because I know the truth being what it is from what my dad told me. When I asked Father Thaddeus questions, he didn't beat around the bush. He told the truth! That I can respect in a person and respond to with my trust!"
Afterwards, Divine Liturgy was also offered at a trailer park where a total of five were in attendance.
Other ministries are provided by these true monks who operate from the Monastic Community St. John Maximovitch and the Holy Theotokos and where the Brotherhood of St. Jude Thaddeus is housed. Yet, there are those who falsely believe they only provide what is seen on the internet.
From these simple acts to those who are disenfranchised, these monks show forth the message, spirit and truth of what it means to be strugglers for the faith in the Orthodox Church.
